On March 21, the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) was inaugurated, one of the most important works in the term of office of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO). Although the project has been heavily criticized for mobility problems in arriving and leaving the air terminal, several bus lines and other means of transport recently announced that they will offer the service so that passengers can arrive or leave the premises in a timely manner.
Recently, some bus lines announced that they will depart from different parts of the city and other states to transfer passengers to AIFA and they specified that these same buses will leave from Santa Lucia to different destinations, including the Central Bus Station of the North in Mexico City (CDMX), Cuernavaca, Queretaro or Puebla.
One of the lines that will transfer passengers from Toluca, Edomex, is Transportes Caminante and the estimated travel time is three hours. These will be the fares and departures that the bus line will handle from AIFA:
1. From AIFA to Santa Fe. Cost of the ticket: 150 pesos. Departure time from Santa Lucia: 6:00 p.m.
2. From AIFA to Central West. Cost of the ticket: 125 pesos. Departure time from Santa Lucia: 6:00 p.m.
In the case of the Estrella Blanca line, the company announced that it will follow two routes to reach the new airport, which will leave Pachuca and the North Bus Station. Although it was not specified what the cost of the ticket departing from AIFA to Pachuca will be, the price that the bus company will handle from Santa Lucia to the Central de Autobuses del Norte will be 125 pesos and these will be the times:
1. AIFA to North Central: Scheduled departures at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
2. AIFA to Pachuca: Departures at 13:00, 14:00 and 15:00
In addition, the Pullman de Morelos bus line announced on its social networks that passengers can now purchase their tickets to get from Cuernavaca Casino to AIFA and vice versa. The cost of the ticket will be 500 pesos and it will only have one time to leave Santa Lucia, so passengers interested in boarding it will have to do so before 15:30.
For passengers who want to arrive in Puebla from the AIFA facilities, the Estrella Roja bus line indicated that there will be two routes that will start operating on March 21 and the cost of the ticket will be 430 pesos. In this way, buses that leave the AIFA de Santa Lucia to the Puebla Bus Station (CAPU) and Paseo Destino, have scheduled departures every day at approximately 14:30 hours.
Autobuses de Oriente (ADO) indicated that there will be several routes to get to AIFA and that the units will depart from different cities, including Puebla, Pachuca, Poza Rica and Tuxpan. However, it has not disclosed the rates or schedules it will handle. Finally, Primera Plus indicated that it will offer passenger transportation from AIFA to Querétaro and San Juan del Río, whose fares will be 347 and 257 pesos, respectively, and buses will leave Santa Lucia at approximately 14:30 hours.
Likewise, the extension of Line 1 of the Mexibus will begin activities this Monday, March 21, as part of the inauguration of AIFA. The increase in infrastructure consists of eight new stations: Lomas Bonita, Ozumbilla, San Francisco, Tecámax, Military Roundabout, Fuels, Treasury and finally, the airport.
