This Sunday, March 20, the Metropolitan Police of Cali reported that 56 women who are in their training process for police auxiliaries were intoxicated. According to the authorities, it is presumed that they ended up affected after eating certain foods on the premises.

Juan Carlos León, commander of the Cali Police, said that the women were immediately referred “to the Western Regional Clinic of the National Police and to the University Hospital del Valle, where at this time they recover without gravity.”

With regard to the supply of food, the security forces indicated that the point will be suspended due to the reaction that women had. The Metropolitan Police also accompanied family members in the face of the emergency involving young women.

Likewise, León explained that from the Police “we are checking all the food samples so that we know what caused this emergency”. The entities that are carrying out the verifications for food samples are the municipal and departmental Ministry of Health and the Department of Health of the National Police. “The entire occupational safety and health group, both from the Police Clinic and the Metropolitan Police of Cali, are at the forefront of the situation,” added the uniformed.

This is the video in which the commander reported the situation of the 56 women, which was shared on the social networks of the Metropolitan Police of Cali:

Univalle students report that they are being served raw food

A similar case of food intake was also reported in Valle del Cauca. Through photographs on their social networks, several students who benefit from the Cali Mayor's Program, 'Everyone to Study', reported that they were served raw chicken in their lunches. Likewise, they also announced that they have not received the transport subsidy that they were initially promised.

There are already several complaints made by students about non-compliance with the benefits they have access to with this program. In fact, several students from Universidad del Valle showed their disagreement on the microphones of Blu Radio and Noticias Caracol, and called for this type of inconvenience not to happen again, since they assure that this is not the first time that this type of situation arose.

“I felt disrespected, the lunch in terrible conditions, the raw chicken, the bad grain, many people had stomach symptoms,” said one of the university students. Likewise, a colleague of his supported that testimony: “It is disrespectful, we young people in line 1, 2 and 3 are affected, from the lower strata of Cali, we often have for transport but not for food. It is not mandatory that they feed us, but it is one of the commitments of this program.”

With regard to the development of the program 'Everyone to Study', the Office of the Comptroller General of the Nation assured on January 31 that the PAE was completed by 74.4%, during 2021. Which means that a quarter of the program remained pending execution. In addition, it was identified that 13 Certified Territorial Entities (ETC) had major shortcomings related to coverage and logistics.

“Putumayo, Popayán, Amazonas, Pitalito, Nariño, Magdalena, Cauca, Córdoba, Chocó, Neiva, Ibagué, Villavicencio and Vaupés presented shortcomings in opportunity, coverage, quality, logistics, among other aspects, projecting a high risk for the implementation of the program in 2022 in those territories,” said the Comptroller's Office.
