It is a reality: the Ibero-American Theater Festival of Bogotá will be held, in person, from 1 to 17 April, under the slogan 'It's time to shine', there is a lot of expectation, as there were doubts about the event that, last year, left good impressions after the participation of, even, entities such as the Commission of the Truth.
For the 17th edition of the FITB, the organizing committee had to make several budgetary adjustments, and on the subject, businessman Ricardo Leyva, member of the Festival's Transition Committee, indicated that the first thing that was done was to settle debts with groups that had participated in previous editions.
“The international groups, which were owed money, at least when I joined the committee, were very few and they all ended up being paid negotiated and paying the debt. That makes an important difference,” said the businessman in dialogue with the program 'La Red'. He also explained that the problems were purely financial and not one of reputation, since this has always been maintained despite economic difficulties and the halt of artistic activities due to the pandemic.
“These festivals always belong to cities and governments. In the case of Colombia, it has really been, from the beginning, an act of faith, and this has been one of the times when the Government decides that the Festival is worth too much and that it must be supported with all the capacities that the national and Bogotá governments have,” Leyva emphasized.

In that sense, he specified that an 'Accordion Model' should have been created, in which the festival grows as resources arrive to think about, for example, the export of theater and the possibility of shaping creative economies, so that we don't have to get into anxiety every time you think about the planning of a new stage season in the city. About this, actress Alejandra Borrero also referred.
The director and founder of 'Casa E Borrero' mentioned in the same entertainment magazine that it should have “started from the ashes with a festival that has had an impressive international renown”, stating that the reception of this event is positive not only from the spectators, but also from the invited groups, since in the face of the calls made by FITB, almost none denied their participation.
“That speaks of that great name that the festival has had,” said the artist, who spared no words in stating that this edition of the Theater Festival did need a ticket office. In addition, he concluded by extending his invitation not to miss any of the 17 days of “art and happiness”.
