The local mayor of Usme, Cundinamarca, Mabel Andrea Sua, confirmed that she will denounce her father, Jorge Tiberio Sua, for the alleged pressure against contractors in this municipality near Bogotá that would have been recorded in audios in which the man is heard demanding millionaire sums of money.

In response to this case, in which the Mayor's Office of Bogotá had asked the official to resign, the Government Secretariat of the capital reported that a disciplinary complaint had been filed with the District Office of Disciplinary Affairs in order to have the municipality's officials and contractors investigated.

“As soon as the office of the Secretary of Government of the Mayor's Office heard the audios of alleged pressure for the delivery of contracts for the provision of services, it filed a criminal complaint with the Attorney General's Office to promptly investigate the events that would have occurred in 2021,” said the Government Secretariat.

He also pointed out that in order to guarantee the reconstruction of these events, in which according to the mayor some journalists approached her to tell her that they had audios implicating her father in alleged demands of significant sums of money from a contractor, while safeguarding the investigation process, they requested precautionary measures to disciplinary authorities.

For these reasons, the Secretariat reported that Jorge Tiberio Sua, father of the mayor of Usme, who had been working in the District since 2016 “is no longer a contractor” for the district administration.

“The District Administration is the most interested in clarifying the facts reported and that is why we reiterate its willingness to collaborate with investigative and preventive actions. If any citizen is aware of any cases of corruption, we invite them to report to: contrataciontransparente@gobiernobogota.gov.co”, concluded the Government Secretariat.

According to the version given by the local president to El Espectador, this whole situation began when a few days ago, a journalist contacted her to tell her that she had an audio where her father, Jorge Tiberio Sua, was demanding the money from a contractor. Mabel Andrea Sua replied, “if you have the audio of the commission of a crime, send it to the Prosecutor's Office.”

He even stated that what happened was repeated some time before with a woman who had a contract for the provision of services with the Mayor's Office of Usme. Speaking to El Espectador, the mayor said that, “she told me that, as a result of the audio, she recommended that I continue hiring her next year so that she would have no problem. I answered the same thing I told the journalist, to report to the authorities, but not to come and extort me so that I would give a contract to a person”.

The local president of Usme assures that it has nothing to do with this case of corruption that links her father, however, it will be the competent authorities responsible for defining the responsibilities in this case.
