The cancellation of the 2022-II admission process of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM) has caused discomfort and concern in the Congress of the Republic. Its president, María del Carmen Alva, was one of the first to speak about it on her Twitter account.

Alva Prieto regretted that the leak of the entrance exam meant that several young people are left unable to join the Dean of America, which harms thousands of students who had prepared hard to take such an assessment.

“I regret the situation of young applicants to the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos after the admission process to that house of studies was declared null and void because the entrance test was leaked. All against the corruption that harms our youth!” , tweeted the Popular Action congresswoman.

For her part, the parliamentarian of the People's Force, Rosangella Barbarán expressed her solidarity with the applicants and urged the relevant authorities to find those responsible who caused all this damage.

“Corruption damaged every space of society. My solidarity with the young applicants of UNMSM who prepared very much to take their admission exam and did everything. I hope they find those responsible for the leak and punish them drastically,” he said on his Twitter account.

WHY DID THE RECTOR OF SAN MARCOS CANCEL THE 2022-II ADMISSION PROCESS?

The rector of UNMSM, Jeri Ramón, explained that she is taking this decision in the face of “the absence of the prosecutor for crime prevention”. “The Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos sees the need to declare the invalidity of the entire 2022-II admission process due to the leaking of the test during the hours of this exam,” he said at a press conference this afternoon.

He also indicated that the measure, which is taken to “safeguard the prestige of the university”, will not harm applicants since “payment (as entitlement to the admission exam) is assured and the exam will be scheduled for a new date, taking all the precautions that have been made and due to have been”.

“We ask for parents' understanding. We cannot allow students to enter buying tests and who have not dedicated themselves to studying. San Marcos is competition, San Marcos cannot afford to receive traders within our beloved alma mater,” he said.

For this reason, the tests today, March 19, and tomorrow, Sunday 20, as well as those taken last weekend, corresponding to Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 March, are suspended.

APPLICANTS' REACTION

This has caused the annoyance of thousands of applicants and entrants. A large number of young people who came to the Dean of America today to take her exam criticized the fact that the rector of the House of Studies had just reported on this measure.

One applicant even recently learned of the cancellation of the admission exam by a journalist who intercepted her at the door of the compound, minutes after the test had ended. “Annulment? About today's exam? Isn't it okay?” , the young woman replied disoriented to Latina.

“It's a shame for everyone, not just for me, but for all students. I prepared for a year for this exam. I'm going to industrial engineering. No one had informed us inside. I'm going to look for my parents,” he regretted.

For his part, another young man described the whole process as fraud. “My parents are just telling me that they are canceling the exam today and yes, it is a sad thing because I have always prepared myself. It had a base. I am based at UNI (University of Engineering) and that is why I came to see my studies, and it is a fraud for me. For me it was a disappointment. They haven't handled it well. Now in my living room I saw that there was a policeman who saw some leaves. I didn't pay that much attention to it because I was solving my exam,” he told Canal N.

That is also the feeling of the parents who accompanied their children to take the entrance exam. One of them expressed concern about the leak of the test and said that the real victims were those who invested time and money to participate in this admission process.

“It is a shame to our country of such a prestigious university and to become suspicious in this fraud. This has been heard since the week. And what about parents and children. We lose money to corruption. It has to be insured [the money spent], but what happens to our children's time,” he said.
