RB Leipzig remains in Champions League despite 0-0 draw against Eintracht

RB Leipzig could only draw 0-0 at home against Eintracht Frankfurt but remain in the 'Top 4' of the Bundesliga, within the Champions League qualifying positions, after 27 rounds.

Provisionally, Leipzig are third with the same points as Bayer Leverkusen (4th), which visits Wolfsburg this Sunday, and Freiburg (5th), which scored scoreless against lead singer Greuther Fürth on Saturday.

Leipzig wasted a great opportunity to consolidate themselves within the Champions League positions, following the stumbling blocks of other direct rivals. In addition to that disappointing draw for Freiburg, Hoffenheim (6th) lost 3-0 against Hertha Berlin (16th).

Hoffenheim is now one point behind Leipzig in the exciting fight for fourth place.

Leipzig coach Domenico Tedesco acknowledged his disappointment at not winning Eintracht, “considering the number of great chances” his team had had.

His team was much less effective than in other recent matches, such as in the recent 6-1 wins against Greuther Fürth and Hertha from Berlin.

Leipzig had clear chances through Dani Olmo, Christopher Nkunku, Andre Silva, Konrad Laimer and Yussuf Poulsen, but Eintracht (8th), Barça's rival in the Europa League quarterfinals, was able to resist with their goal to zero.
