Alias' Matamba ', the extraditable right-hand man of the Gulf Clan leader, surprised the country and the international community in the early hours of last Friday when he learned that he had escaped. In the first instance it was believed that he was in another pavilion at a clandestine party. But then they realized he was another subject and in the morning they finished confirming that the drug trafficker had escaped with garments from the National Penitentiary and Prison Institute (Inpec).

The fact soon generated several allegations and suspicions against the security scheme of the La Picota prison, a prison from which 'Matamba' escaped, as the recent scandal where the prisoner of liberty was evidenced by a corruption process, Carlos Mattos, was recalled, walking freely through Bogotá, even having meetings from his office located in the north of the city.

In this regard, Defense Minister Diego Molano said that both his Justice colleague, Wilson Ruiz, and INPEC, must answer to the country for the responsibility for the escape of the extraditable. He also commented: “President Duque clearly gave three instructions to all government entities, as far as the Ministry of Defense, in particular our Police, it is up to us to work jointly with the Prosecutor's Office on the recapture of alias' Matamba '.”

55 dragonists from the prison precinct were suspended and investigations will be opened, as will the director of La Picota, Javier Papa and Deputy Director Oscar Murrillo. In the escape that ended with 'Matamba', leaving prison passing by a security guard, it is presumed that they delivered bribes worth 10 billion pesos.

“We know the responsibility we have in the matter, so an intelligence capsule was articulated that works all the time until another apprehension is achieved,” explained the Minister of Defense, highlighting the work that the authorities must do to achieve the recapture of the extraditable.

For his part, President Duque commented: “I have indignation in the first place, and what is going to happen are several things. First, I have already spoken to the Attorney General of the nation, since this morning, so that all the necessary captures are made, those who led to that escape by the prison guard,” said the president from the heroic city, and also pointed out that it is of the utmost importance to restructure INPEC, due to the latest scandals that have led to.

In context, in the early hours of March 18, various rumors arose about the whereabouts of Juan Larinson Castro Estupiñan alias' Matamba ', although the authorities initially tried to calm things down, in the last minutes it was confirmed that the drug trafficker did manage to escape from La Picota prison south of Bogotá.

The escape plan according to W Radio would have been carried out in complicity with men from INPEC, since the feared criminal left the prison in the early hours of Friday, wearing Inpec clothing, in this case he identified himself as a dragonman of this institution wearing his allusive garments.

W Radio contacted the lawyer of 'Matamba', the lawyer Angelica Martínez explained the situation and indicated that until now she had no knowledge of the whereabouts of her client, since they did not provide her information from the detention center.

The lawyer Martínez explained: “I am communicating with the legal firm of La Picota by telephone, I ask her to give me information regarding the whereabouts of my client, and what the doctor says is that she cannot give me information by telephone, to send a letter, I have just made the office addressed to the director of La Picota and I hope they respond because they never really respond to emails, my concern is because I do fear for his life and safety.”
