Not everything happens above the four stages where 100 national and international artists will be presented for three days (18,19, 20 March). Among the tide of people - estimated at about 100,000 people per day - who move from one place to another so as not to miss the presentation of their favorite show, there is a corner that is inviting for everyone. At times, you have to stand in line or ask permission to immortalize the moment. It's just that everyone wants a picture with Lollapalooza's giant corporeal poster that welcomes the festival.
The San Isidro racecourse site opens its doors from 11.30 in the morning, and with four different accesses, the nerve point that works as a magnet is the large Lollapalooza logo. This 2022 was intervened by the Venezuelan artist Rafael Parra Toro, who approaches kinetic art based on geometric figures that transpose and achieve a visual effect in motion. In 2019 it was conceived by artists Gachi Gasper and Cynthia Cohen, who were inspired by their series “Bright Future”.
The poster alone would not make sense without the presence of the thousands of curious people and the huge inflatable sculpture that injects a dose of color and pop art. It has the signature of the great Argentine artist Marta Minujín and is called Sculptures of Desires.
“This year more ways that cheer up, Lollapallooza 2022!” , anticipated the artist herself from her personal Instagram account. And he succeeded. He always does. For this edition Minujín superimposed two inflatable sculptures that give the work a height of 17 meters. You can walk, touch... and listen! An almost complete sensory experience.
There are always people trying to immortalize the work in videos or photos. “This one goes straight to the stories in my personal account,” says Sol, while trying to capture the essence of the installation. Something similar does Juan, who when Infobae comes to speak, without hesitation he asks for a snapshot. “The colors, the texture... contrast with the cloudy sky, it's a spectacular postcard”, gives indications of how you imagine your content when you post it on the networks.
The sun begins to go down, and the shadows appear, the chiaroscuro... But sculpture still plays a leading role. That's the time for the best shot. “The real golden hour with Minujín”, describes Ale, who traveled from Tres Arroyos to be part of Lolla.
Sunlight also challenges those who dance in the colored houses. Only a few enter there. They dance, move, shout to the rhythm of DJs Camila Reg, Maxi De Grassi or Chapa & Castello, to name a few. The list goes on, there are cachengue, electronics and trap.
The avant-garde design structures follow the trigger axis of joy that Minujín proposed. That's what it's all about, generating unlimited encounters between art and music.
Also noteworthy is the impressive World Tour brought from Brazil, with capacity for 64 people. From the heights it is possible to enjoy the best panoramic view of the entire festival. Sunset is the most inviting time. The only restriction: being of legal age.
Two unicorns over 10 meters are already lighting up the night. They are easy to identify, and complete the festival's installation circuit. At this time, the real protagonists of art are already part of the audience's photo roll.
