The Cartagena Metropolitan Police reported that due to a quarrel that occurred inside a plane covering the Cartagena - Bogotá route, on the night of Saturday, March 19, the flight heading to the country's capital was ordered to be suspended, resulting in a delay in the itinerary of Rafael Núñez International Airport.

A video, which was shared on social networks, recorded the moment when a group of passengers began the brawl inside the aircraft, which would have occurred due to the persistent complaints of some of the airline's travelers and hostesses to four tourists who turned on a speaker at the time of boarding, which would have generated discomfort.

“According to the witnesses, the bluetooth of a speaker was activated and a sound is activated that generates the discomfort of passengers. And this is what allows the decision to return to the platform in the end,” General Nicolás Zapata, commander of the Cartagena Police, told Noticias Caracol.

This incident caused members of the security forces to enter the aircraft to remove the four passengers, who were reportedly under the influence of alcohol, resulting in the suspension of the flight and a delay of about two hours in air activities at the international airport in the capital of Bolivar.

According to information collected by the national news, the fight continued on the runway at Rafael Núñez airport, which is why those responsible for the suspension of the flight were fined, in turn, the airline said that travelers who purchase their travel tickets have to comply with a series of rules, such as not entering the state of liquidation and follow staff recommendations.

At the same time, Caracol Noticias learned that the airline and Aerocivil are articulating actions with the purpose of addressing these situations in which travelers commit failures that interrupt air operation.

“Four cases are issued, specifically for breaching Law 1801 for putting the safety of the flight's air operation at risk, which is why they have to pay $1,060,000. At the moment, the measure taken is transitory, however, we will have to look with the airline if in the future these passengers are declared unhappy to travel,” the commander of the Cartagena Police told Noticias Caracol.

This altercation will be evaluated by the authorities in order to prevent non-compliance within aircraft or airport facilities from causing operational trauma and delays in flight schedules.

This fight resulted in a two-hour delay in the operations of Rafael Núñez International Airport, one of the busiest in the country.
