Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) coach Mauricio Pochettino was very upset at a press conference after the 3-0 fall of his team against Monaco for Ligue 1 and assured that respect for the club and the fans must be fundamental. After the Champions League elimination against Real Madrid, the Parisian team seems to have completely broken up.
The Argentine coach acknowledged having been embarrassed by how his team played this Sunday: “It is inadmissible to start like this. Afterwards, there is sports shame. But now it's time to move on, overcome the frustration of the Champions League and think about doing our best. You have to have a competitive spirit.” In this regard, he insisted: “This is unacceptable. The first half we did was unacceptable. We had no fighting spirit against a team that was at a bad time. The way we play is not acceptable.”
Pochettino hoped to turn the situation around and get his players to react. “This can't happen. This can't happen. We can have bad performances but not with this attitude. It is unacceptable to start the match in this way. Respect for the club and our fans is essential,” he added after the match in Monaco.
PSG lost 3-0 and, despite maintaining a 13-point difference at the top of the Ligue 1 table, the Champions League elimination against Real Madrid seems to have been a before and after in the season. Last date, in the Parc des Princes, Pochettino, Messi and Neymar were whistled through the stands of the stadium and, after this new fall, the situation it does not seem that it will improve for the next commitment.
The Argentine coach, who could not count on Lionel Messi on the field for a girpal draw, did not want to individualize on any footballer: “We always judge collective performance, mood collective, I don't want to focus on individual performances. We're not looking for excuses. The most important thing is to find solutions, we must stop looking for excuses, looking for excuses”.
The PSG coach took responsibility for the situation: “You have to be responsible. Everyone must take on the situation individually thinking about the collective, the team”, he concluded.
