The company Grünenthal Colombiana has asked patients and caregivers of Tramal drops, a preparation of the anesthetic tramadol, to refrain from consuming it, either as part of their medical treatment and to verify whether they have in their possession the product of lot 2108091.

Contact us as soon as possible, at the communication channels ready to coordinate the collection of the product and attend to any queries,” said Grünenthal Colombiana.

The company decided to make a voluntary withdrawal of all units of its preparation and warn: “If the product Tramal drops lot 2108091 has been ingested, immediately consult your doctor and notify it in the aforementioned communication channels”.

“Considering that patient safety is our top priority, at Grünenthal Colombiana we decided to make a voluntary recall of all units of Tramal drops lot 2108091 exclusively throughout the country. This after having identified an anomaly in the packaging process, since the product box and the label of the bottle contained therein do not correspond to the same medicine,” they explained.

People who have this product can communicate with the company on its broadcast channels that will be running 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They can be reached at telephone numbers 318 813 4326 and 601 618 5550 Ext: 4505, also at drugsafety.co@grunenthal.com.

So far, Invima has not given an official report about the voluntary recall of this pharmacist in the country, but the pharmaceutical company urged users to verify the product they have and the lot number found in the upper tab that closes the box.

It is noteworthy that, according to Medlineplus, tramadol is used to relieve moderate to moderately severe pain, and is only used by people who are expected to need the medication to relieve pain all the time. It is also a class of medications called opioid (narcotic) analgesics.

It works by changing the way the brain and nervous system respond to pain. It also explains that this medicine may cause serious or life-threatening breathing problems, especially during the first 24 to 72 hours of your treatment and each time your dose is increased.

“While taking tramadol, talk to your health care provider about the goals of pain treatment, how long it will take, and other ways to manage pain. Tell your doctor if you or anyone in your family drinks or drank large amounts of alcohol, uses or has ever used street drugs, abused prescription drugs, overdosed, or if you have or have had depression or other mental illness. There is a greater risk of abuse of tramadol if you have or have ever had any of these conditions,” Medlineplus recommends.

Among the side effects it can cause are: numbness, headache, nervousness, uncontrollable trembling of a part of the body, muscle tension, mood changes, heartburn or indigestion, and dry mouth.

This is not the only case of voluntary recall of a drug in the country, a few weeks ago Invima confirmed that the Abbott laboratory voluntarily withdrew from the market several batches of the breast milk formula produced by this pharmaceutical company.
