Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged Russia to hold peace talks “to reduce the harm of its own mistakes” and “restore territorial integrity and justice” after three weeks of Russian invasion of the country.
“Local peace and security talks for Ukraine are the only opportunity for Russia to reduce the damage of its own mistakes. Otherwise, Russia's losses will be such that it will not have enough generations to rise,” said the Ukrainian president, according to a message on his official Facebook profile.
According to Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform, the Executive will carry out financial and housing support programs for internally displaced persons, as well as the reconstruction of destroyed houses.
The president said that his government team is working on a project to offer solutions to its citizens to find work in the places where they are currently located.
For its part, CNN noted that the proposal includes “providing housing for the displaced and organizing efforts to rebuild destroyed houses once the war is over.”
It also intends to provide support to families sheltering people who fled the occupied territories or areas where there is fighting.
“At a minimum, they will receive reimbursement for their utility expenses related to the accommodation of resettled people,” Zelensky said.
The president highlighted that more than 180,000 civilians were evacuated and rescued through humanitarian corridors, although “the occupants continue to block the delivery of humanitarian supplies in most directions.”
“This is an absolutely conscious tactic. They have a clear order to do everything possible to ensure that the humanitarian catastrophe in Ukrainian cities becomes an argument for Ukrainians to cooperate with the occupiers. This is a war crime and they will answer for it,” he said according to Ukrainian news agency Interfax.
Zelensky referred to the work of the Ukrainian Army and assured that the advance of Russian troops in the regions of Kiev, Sumy and Chernigov, as well as in southern Ukraine, has been slowed down. He also noted that there are “difficult battles” in the Kharkiv region, especially “intense” near the city of Izium.
