CARACAS (AP) - The return of the steering wheel Yangel Herrera stood out in the list of 28 players called by coach José Pekerman for Venezuela to close its participation in the World Cup qualifier, which he no longer has any chance to attend.

With its sights set on a new process, Vinotinto, which just named Pekerman as its coach a few months ago, will play the last two dates of the South American qualifier against Qatar.

She will visit qualified Argentina and will host a Colombia that with headwinds is looking for at least one ticket to the intercontinental repechage.

Forwards Salomón Rondón and Josef Martinez, from England's Everton and Atlanta United, respectively, also stand out among the callers announced late Friday night.

Herrera, from Espanyol, was left out on the sidelines on the previous dates against Bolivia and Uruguay due to an injury that at the beginning of the year took him off the courts for a month.

The last two dates were the first that the Argentine strategist and former Colombian coach was at the helm of Vinotinto. Pékerman took the reins of Venezuela in January as part of a project that finally seeks to qualify Venezuelans in a World Cup for seniors.

Venezuela is the only South American team that has never played a World Cup. In the current tie, she is sunk to the bottom of the standings with 10 points.

Next Friday it will face Argentina with Lionel Messi in the lead at the La Bombonera stadium in Buenos Aires and four days later it will host Colombia, who is in seventh place with 17 points, and is forced to emerge victorious against the Bolivians and Venezuelans to wait for other results that will give it some aspiration to attend the World Cup

Brazil and Argentina lead the tie and are assured of their participation in the world cup. Ecuador is third with 25 points and is followed by Uruguay with 22, to temporarily occupy the other places that distribute direct tickets to Qatar.

The fifth place, which allows to play a playoff against an Asian team, is for now in the hands of Peru, which has 21 points and is pursued by Chile with 19 and Colombia with 17.
