Continuing the frontal fight against drug trafficking, the Peruvian National Police (PNP) captured a plane of Bolivian origin used to transport drugs, which had been abandoned on a clandestine airstrip built in an area of the Curimaná district, in the province of Padre Abad, Ucayali region.
The police were able to obtain information on the location of this ship thanks to intelligence work carried out by the Special Investigations Division (Divinesp) and the Department of Special Investigations (Depinesp) of Dirandro de Pucallpa.
Noting the presence of the PNP agents, a group of armed persons guarding the aerial vehicle, and who would be part of a criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking, escaped the place taking advantage of the thick forest, with the help of two boats with engines called 'small-small'.
Law enforcement took control of the area and found that the Cessna model aircraft, registered CP-1832, had propeller and front landing gear malfunctions that could not be repaired. Because of this, they proceeded to destroy it.
Through intelligence actions, it became known that this ship could have been used to collect around 350 kilos of drugs belonging to a drug mafia operating in the area, and that it was going to be transferred abroad.
This intervention was supported by troops from the Division for Maneuvering Against Illicit Drug Trafficking (Divmctid) and the Police Aviation Directorate (Diravpol) of Pucallpa; as well as the participation of the provincial prosecutor of the Second Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Drug Trafficking Crimes, Getulio Fausto Córdova Cuellar.
ACTIONS IN LORETO
The Executive Branch extended the state of emergency in the provinces of Putumayo and Mariscal Ramón Castilla, located in the Loreto region to continue security measures and combat drug trafficking .
This is provided for in Supreme Decree No. 023-2022-PCM published today in the Legal Norms Separata of the Official Gazette El Peruano. He adds that the measure will be in effect for 60 calendar days. The regulation also states that the Peruvian National Police (PNP) maintains control of internal order, with the support of the Armed Forces.
It further indicates that during the extension of the state of emergency, the constitutional rights relating to the inviolability of the home, freedom of transit through the national territory, freedom of assembly and personal freedom and security are suspended, included in article 2 (9), (11), (12) and (24) (f) of the Political Constitution of Peru.
The recitals of the regulations specify that the measure is taken at the request of the National Police to continue combating acts contrary to domestic order that affect the normal conduct of the population's activities in the affected areas.
A report prepared by this institution reports on the problems existing in the provinces of Putumayo and Mariscal Ramón Castilla of the department of Loreto, as a result of the criminal actions of criminal organizations engaged in illicit drug trafficking and related crimes.
With regard to the intervention of the Peruvian National Police and the Armed Forces, it indicates that the intervention is carried out in accordance with Legislative Decree No. 1186, Legislative Decree regulating the use of force by the Peruvian National Police, and Legislative Decree No. 1095, Legislative Decree establishing rules on the use and use of force by the Armed Forces in the national territory and its Regulations, approved by Supreme Decree No. 003-2020-DE, respectively.
