Managua, 19 Mar Three members of a family died in a traffic accident in a neighborhood of Managua involving a Nicaraguan National Police patrol, according to the local press on Saturday. The accident took place on Friday in the populous San Judas neighborhood, south of Managua, when a police patrol collided at a crossroads with a private vehicle, which after the impact slipped and passed by a family walking in the area. So far the police authorities have not determined which of the drivers neglected the traffic sign. The victims were identified as Belkis Doña Rosales, 29, their one-year-old son, and their father Jose Misael Doña Hernandez, age 51. The minor, with the initials G.U.S.D. who was on board a baby car pushed by his mother, died when he was admitted to a health care center. While his mother and grandfather died around midnight in a hospital in Managua, his relatives confirmed. Reina Rosales Espinoza, 52, maternal grandmother of the child, mother of Belkis and wife of José Misael, who was also walking in the area at the time of the accident, remains hospitalized. The candle of the three members of that family takes place this Saturday at the evangelical temple Primera Iglesia de Dios, in the Loma Linda neighborhood, a neighbor of San Judas, and later it will be the funeral at the Sierras de Paz Cemetery, in Managua. According to witnesses, the victims were waiting for the light to change at a traffic light to cross the street, heading from north to south, when they were hit by one of the collided vehicles.
