In the midst of a dizzying controversy, different sectors of Colombian politics have shown their rejection of the counting of votes, which has added seats to some parties in congress and reduced possibilities for other groups, among these, a particular case arises with the representative of the House León Fredy Muñoz, who aspired to the Senate of the Republic and in the pre-count won a seat. However, the votes that appeared in the Historical Pact would leave him without his seat, despite having supported that coalition.

In the tour that candidate Gustavo Petro had in Antioquia, he was accompanied by different politicians of the Antioquia lineage, who have championed themselves in that campaign, among them was León Fredy Muñoz, a contender for the Green Alliance party, but with full support for the leader of Human Colombia, he was seen smiling on stage and embracing Petro, exalting the political process that Petro had in Paisa territory and the possible change that could take place in a region where there is a historical support for the right wing.

On Sunday, March 13, everything pointed to Muñoz Lopera rising to the upper house with 38,894 votes, set at 0.23% of the threshold by the Green Alliance and Esperanza Center coalition, however, after almost a week, the vote count is leaving him outside the Senate of the Republic.

This has different aspects to take into account, since the Antioquian candidate, until the end of election day, assured the 14th seat of the Green Alliance and Esperanza Center coalition, giving direct passage to the Senate of the Republic, however, with the new scrutiny, the Historical Pact would have 19 seats and the coalition Centro Esperanza would be left with 13, meaning that the voting threshold would not have benefited Muñoz, despite supporting Gustavo Petro, since in this case he is a member of another party.

Knowing these results, the representative of the greens thanked his followers and asked them to be patient, because according to him, not everything was defined, with regard to the subject, Muñoz said: “Friends and friends, first of all those who accompanied us in this process, those who voted for us, I want to thank them very much, I think that this was the most beautiful campaign in the world, I also want to thank all the lawyers who have accompanied us, all the friends who have been in the scrutiny in the municipality of Bello, who have been in Medellín, who have been everywhere, hundreds of friends who voluntarily supported us.” .

According to León Muñoz, we must wait until Julio, as he indicated that at that time the picture will be much clearer for the possession of the new congress, in addition, he said that they were calm about everything achieved on the subject, the lobbyist said: “I want to tell you that we have recovered votes, but so far everything is unfinished, that is a process that is too slow that until July we will surely not know the reality, so all the peace of mind, we are in full spirit and surely in July we will know what happened here, we have all our hopes placed on that work we have done, a beautiful job, but above all; we managed to consolidate a great team and that team is all of you, who accompanied us, this whole team.” .

Registrar Alexander Vega has pointed out that the entire counting process is under investigation, and also stressed that the results may vary as stated by the complainants.
