The Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos is once again in the eye of the storm, this time after the leakage of an admission test and the subsequent cancellation of it. Several students were surprised by the announcement made by rector Jeri Ramón, who said that the decision responds to the attempt to safeguarding the prestige of the university. However, the greatest interest of several applicants points to when they would have to take the test once again to get a vacancy in the competitive institution.

Jeri Ramón confirmed that for the next date “the precautions that have been and to have been” will be taken in order not to repeat the same impasse that has harmed thousands of people interested in starting their university life. On payment for the right of examination he assured that he is insured; however, it was not confirmed when the exact date of the new test would be. So far it is only known that there will be a rescheduling that will replace the assessments on Saturday 12, Sunday 13 and Saturday 19 March. The test on March 20, although it was not taken, it is also canceled as part of the 2022-II admission process.

We ask for parents' understanding. We cannot allow students to enter buying tests and who have not dedicated themselves to studying. San Marcos is competition, San Marcos cannot afford to receive businessmen within our beloved alma mater,” the rector said during the press conference where she gave the controversial announcement. “San Marcos is not sold, San Marcos defends itself”, were the last words of his speech.

THE INITIAL ANSWER

A few hours after the end of the exam on Saturday, March 12, the alleged evidence of the leak began to circulate on social networks. The most notorious was the capture of a chat where one of the questions that were part of the evaluation had arrived. However, what attracted the most attention was the identical score among several applicants. The case of Greycy Lyliana Quintos Vilchez and Jwen Lizeth Quintos Vilchez, two supposed sisters, would not be the only one. Among others who shared high and identical scores, they took the top positions of the race they were applying for.

Given the spread on social networks of an alleged leak of the UNMSM admission examination, we strongly reject this attempt to discredit, since the strict security measures applied in the preparation, printing and distribution of the exam guarantee the adequacy of the admission process,” was the first response from the admissions office of the Universidad San Marcos.

In the same statement, it was assured that for the test “audited software is used that evaluates the indicators of origin of the applicant, classroom in which they take the exam and historical information on previous processes, that the scores obtained by the applicants are within statistical normality, which demonstrates the impossibility of leaking the admission examination”. But now, a week later, the reality is different. The authorities have confirmed the leak of the exam and canceled the application process.

Although it has been indicated that San Marcos will take care of the students who will take the exam again, little is known about the dates, the participation of the authorities to know the mechanism that allowed the leak and whether they will allow those who would have gone to outside help to obtain a vacancy in the house to take the exam once more. of studies.
