Following the statements of Rector Jeri Ramón to cancel the 2022-II admission process of the University National Mayor of San Marcos (UNMSM) after the leak of the knowledge test required to enter the Dean of America, before this happened there were many complaints dating back to 2020 during the pandemic.

That year the exam was virtual, but during the development it was reported that plagiarism occurred and the responses had been passed through live broadcasts on social networks. It had digitally gathered more than 8,000 applicants from the areas of Health Science, Basic Sciences and Economics and Management Sciences. However, everything was overshadowed by plagiarism, something that was recognized by the same house of studies, although the test was not canceled.

At that time, the rector was Orestes Cachay Boza, who guaranteed the transparency of the virtual test within minutes of its inception, but this did not help: answers began to upload on virtual platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.

The exam was extensive: it lasted between 10 and 13 hours due to light problems in Lima. Many students took pictures of the virtual test and passed the answers through Whatsapp.

In a press release, UNMSM stated that there were several false images that had been posted on social media, but efforts were being made to identify applicants guilty of plagiarism and live broadcasts.

The authorities of the San Marcos University stated that the Peruvian National Police (PNP) and the Public Prosecutor's Office were present during the examination and the identified applicants had been denounced. The sanction would be “the cancellation and suspension for future entrance exams, regardless of the appropriate legal actions”.

The San Marcos University Federation (FUSM) sent a statement to dismiss the admission exam, calling it a “mockery” and “outrage to Peruvian education” and demanded the “cancellation of this virtual admission exam, full refund of money for those who apply for it and the development of an exam of face-to-face and decentralized admission, making use of strict biosafety protocols”.

Despite this request, UNMSM did not cancel the review and everything continued.

2021 REVIEW AT UNMSM STADIUM

In 2021, he returned to face-to-face with the San Marcos University exam. However, it was not done in the San Marquina classrooms but in the stadium of the university city. Jeri Ramón, who had won the second round of the UNMSM elections with the Siempre San Marcos movement and became the first rector of the Dean of America, was already rector.

“It has been a success thanks to the effort that the San Marquina community has put in to have the students here, the accountant said about this test

He added that it had been “very difficult” to set up the stadium of the school, but he had managed to prepare himself and stressed that no incidents had been reported with the students.

However, in 2022 he would not have the same fate.

CANCELLATION OF THE EXAM IN 2022

In the afternoon of Saturday, March 19, Jeri Ramón, with other officials from San Marcos University, confirmed that the admission examination of the Dean of America had been declared invalid by the leak of questions and alleged plagiarism that should be investigated, since the prestige of the university must be safeguarded.

“The payment (by way of entitlement to the admission exam) of applicants is assured and the exam will be scheduled for a new date, taking all the precautions there have been and to have,” he said.

The rector said that, in addition, this week's tests were suspended: that of Sunday, March 20 and those taken last weekend, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 March. The accountant asked the parents for understanding.

The San Marcos University Federation (FUSM) had already requested the cancellation of the test due to complaints that began to go viral on the networks social, since on 12 March, the first day of the admission test, the answers began to be disseminated.

The engineering and human medicine tests were the most widespread and when the official results were published on the website of the study center, it was found that they had tied the top 10 places in area A of health sciences: they had a perfect score.

There were more cases that led to the cancellation of the admission exam: some sisters entered Human Medicine with the same score, there was a triple tie in the General Computation and the alleged leak of the exam before it was over.
