Real Madrid and Barcelona will play this Sunday's 92nd classic in the history of La Liga and can be seen by Star +. From May 9, 1929 when Barça won 0-1 and until April 10, 2021 when Real won 2-1, their duels have become legendary. The meringue advantage is obvious: 54 wins by 22 of the Catalans and 15 draws, the last of them (1-1) in 2011 framed in the best barça streak, which between 2009 and 2019 won eight and lost only two Classics of the tournament of regularity.

This classic will be available on the Star+ platform, like other international sporting events.

However, throughout this history there are matches that have been marked in history. These could be the six most prominent ones:

1935. THE BIGGEST WIN MERENGUE

The middle of the 1934-35 season was approaching and Barça, who had just drawn at Les Corts (1-1) against Racing, was practically ruled out of the championship fight that Real Madrid fought, second, with Betis and Athletic. This is how the duel was reached in Chamartín, where the Barça team sought revenge after three consecutive defeats... And he met with a beating never seen before.

Lazcano soon scored 1-0 and Escolà drew quickly, but at halftime it was already reached with a strong 5-1 for the whites, thrown with Sañudo and who ended up winning the match by 8-2. Barça would take it out in a certain way in the second round match, beating 5-0 at Les Corts on the penultimate day that took the lead, and half a title, from Madrid... But that 8-2 remained forever in history.

1965. THE END OF THE NIGHTMARE

Since they won by 1-2 in 1948 and until they won in 1965 by 1-3, 16 seasons passed in which Barcelona always lost the league classic in Chamartín. It happened to the great team of the Five Cups and also to that of Helenio Herrera. Ladislao Kubala, in fact, never won a league match at the Bernabeu. He didn't even manage to tie it.

There were 16 consecutive defeats, some by defeats and others by the minimum until on December 19, 1965, Barça led by Roque Olsen and who had a horrible streak as a visitor with two draws and three consecutive defeats struck the most unexpected blow at the Bernabeu, where Madrid had six wins and one draw. A double from Fusté in eight minutes silenced the white coliseum, which woke up with Felix Ruiz's 1-2... and ended up surrendering after the final 1-3 of Zaldua. That's where the nightmare ended.

1974. CRUYFF'S LITTLE HAND

Barça, which had not won the league since 1960, was thrown into the standings under the leadership of Johan Cruyff, while Real Madrid had already fired Miguel Muñoz and, under the orders of Luis Molowny, he wandered like a ghost through a barça championship. The Classic was presented as the ideal occasion for Madrid to regain self-esteem... But Barcelona's commanding coup was unquestionable.

Until that February 17, 1974, he had won only four league classics in Chamartín and that Sunday night he not only won the fifth... but he did it for a historical 0-5. Two goals by Asensi and those of Juan Carlos, Sotil and Cruyff sentenced an unprecedented humiliation that caused a euphoria never seen around that champion Barça.

1995. THE ANSWER

Twenty years after 0-5, Barcelona enjoyed their particular 5-0 at Camp Nou, the humiliation of a Dream Team turned on by Romario and that on January 8, 1994 swept Madrid... Without suspecting that after a year he would receive the same medicine at the Bernabeu.

It was on January 7, 1995, with Laudrup dressed in white and under the direction of Jorge Valdano that Real superbly returned his hand, with an initial hat-trick by Zamorano and Amavisca and Luis Enrique, who celebrated his goal very effusively, sinking Barça who had dominated the league the previous four years and was already in collapse.

2008. THE HALLWAY

The Madrid champion a week earlier, three days in advance, hosted Barça at the Bernabeu on May 7, 2008 in what was a Classic without history... But for the story. It was because, in a sign of sportsmanship, the Barça team, which 17 years earlier had been received on that same stage as champion through a hall of the merengue players, had to return the gesture to him.

Barça made the corridor for the champion Madrid... And the corridor continued throughout the game, which beat Real 4-1, overwhelming a collapsed rival who saved the honor with Henry's last-minute goal, an instant before Xavi, today's Barça coach, suffered the second and final expulsion of his entire league career.

2009. THE EXHIBITION

A year later they turned the tables absolutely. But contrary to what may be thought over time, that May 2, 2009 the Classic had a very prominent decisive character. Juande Ramos had made his debut with defeat (2-0) at the Camp Nou and until the Bernabeu reunion Real Madrid had won 17 matches and tied one to be four points behind the leader led by Pep Guardiola.

There were five rounds left to finish the league and Barça performed at the Bernabeu after equalizing 2-2 with Valencia, feeling the burden of the pursuer and fearing the Barça environment a final collapse... Which became, however, a historic festival. Higuain scored 1-0 and the merengue fan exploded without suspecting that in a heartbeat it would go to the 1-3 that would end the first half. Then Ramos shortened... And Barça responded with two other goals from Henry and Messi (a double of each with Puyol's). The legendary Barcelona party was closed by a spectacular goal by Pique.

A monstrous 2-6 that sentenced the most legendary Classic of recent decades and the league title that, no longer opposed, won Barça.

The new version of this Spanish classic can be followed by Star +.
