The six-time MotoGP world champion, Spaniard Marc Márquez, won the fastest time on Saturday in a last free session of the Indonesian Grand Prix marked by rain, but failed to improve his position and will have to run the first qualifying round.
With some sections of the circuit wet by heavy rain in Mandalika, the Repsol Honda rider recovered from the bad feelings of the previous day, with a high-speed fall in the free seconds that relegated him to the penultimate position.
However, he did not improve his time from the previous day, so he must run in the first qualifying round and be in the top two to be able to fight later for pole position.
In fact, the weather did not allow changes in the standings of the previous day's two sessions, in which the current world champion, Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), set the fastest time, with only 30 thousandths ahead of his Italian teammate Franco Morbidelli.
After being just ninth in the opening race of the season in Qatar, two weeks ago, Quartararo (22) is trying this weekend to take revenge in the tropical heat of the island of Lombok.
