Harry Potter: Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy is an action RPG

Although the game will be located within the universe that was created through the Harry Potter books, the story will unfold at the end of the 21st century, so the narrative will predate the events that all fans know. Players will be able to create the wizard or witch that stars in the title and they will have a large number of customization options.

It will allow you to explore an open world

One of the highlights of this week's presentation was the reconstruction of the iconic magic school, but also the exteriors - both of the castle and other locations - were also very successful. Players will be able to attend classes within the school, but also go through different passages or dungeons. In addition, places like Hogsmeade, the Forbidden Forest and villages can also be explored.

The return of ancient magic

The central character is going to be a student who enters school in the fifth year. But that is not going to be the only aspect that distinguishes it from the rest: it will have the ability to control ancient magic that jeopardizes the safety of the wizarding world.

The Sorting Hat

As seen in the preview, once the character is created, users will go through the ceremony in which it is defined which Hogwarts house they are intended for. On the page they clarified that players will be able to choose one of four houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin.

Are the characters in the books coming back?

As it is a story set in the 19th century, the characters that could be seen in the films and in their film adaptations will not appear in the game. Although this aspect does not apply, for example, to ghosts. In the preview, Nick Almost Headless could be seen as one of the recognizable figures who will be present.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Legacy

Players will be able to fly

A game based on the magical world of Harry Potter cannot neglect a fundamental point of the saga: the possibility of flying on brooms. In Hogwarts Legacy, players will be able to attend flying classes to perfect that skill, and broom flying will be a way to move from one point to another in that world more quickly. They also explained that it will be possible to tame, ride and travel in some of the magical animals that are going to appear.

Cooperative play?

Although it was a rumor that was circulating, one point that was clarified is that this proposal will focus on being a single-player experience and will not have the possibility of online play or cooperative mode.

What can be done is to develop relationships with some of the characters that appear in the game. Once a friendship is established with them, they can become companions, while learning skills from them and learning more about their stories.

No to microtransactions

After the presentation, some images had raised some doubts in the community: will this game include microtransactions? However, those responsible did not take long to deny that possibility and clarified that they would not be part of the proposal. So players can breathe easy because they don't have to invest extra money to unlock potions or other necessary items.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Legacy

The magical world that everyone knows

Although it will be different in a century and - as was clarified above - for a logical reason the characters will be different, the game will respect the tradition of the magical world and will be faithful to the original narrative. They also noted that J.K. Rowling (writer of the books) entrusted the creation of the games to Warner Bros. Games and that his team collaborated to achieve a story that is in keeping with the world on which it is based.

When and how will it be possible to play?

Although without a specific date, if it was confirmed that the game will arrive for the end of the year festivities. When it launches, it will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
