The Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (Ideam) reported that, for Saturday 19, Sunday 20 and Monday 21 March, rainfall is expected in much of the country, especially in the Pacific, Andean and Amazon region.
The director of Ideam, Yolanda González, explained that, during this weekend, the heaviest rains will occur in the Pacific region towards the southern sector of it, and in the west of Valle del Cauca, Cauca and Nariño.
Likewise, the official indicated that rainy weather is also expected in the Amazon region along this festive bridge, especially on the afternoon of Monday, March 21 in the departments of Putumayo and Caquetá.
In the center and east of the departments of Guaviare, Vaupés and southern Guainía, abundant rainfall is also expected with a high probability of electric shocks.
According to the Ideam report, the sectors that will be most affected by the rains in the Andean region this Saturday, March 19, will be the Santanderes, Antioquia, Tolima, the north and west of Boyacá, Huila and some sectors of the Coffee Region.
On Sunday, March 20, the entity predicted abundant rainfall in the departments of Santander, Boyacá, Tolima, Antioquia, Eje Cafetero and Huila, while on Monday 21st, rain is expected to be expected west of the department of Antioquia, in the Santanderes, in the Coffee Axis, Tolima, and in the center. north of Cundinamarca and Boyacá.
According to the institute, the most intense rainfall that the Andean region will have during this weekend will be “in mountain areas of Cauca and Nariño”.
Regarding the weather forecast for the San Andrés and Providencia Archipelago and the Caribbean region, the director of Ideam reported that “there will be a predominance of dry, sunny weather and high temperatures, even in major cities such as Riohacha, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Santa Marta, Monteria, Sincelejo and Valledupar ”.
However, the entity did not rule out sporadic rainfall in the archipelago, while in the Caribbean region, more intense rainfall is expected south of the departments of Córdoba, Sucre, Cesar and Bolívar, and in some areas south of La Guajira and in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
On the other hand, the director of Ideam reported that, for the Orinoquia region, there is an estimated predominance of dry weather in much of the center and east of that territory. However, the entity does not rule out rainfall in some sectors of the plains and southwestern foothills of Meta, during the early afternoon and evening hours of this weekend.
The director of Ideam also indicated that, given the probability of sudden increases in the rivers and streams of the Andean region due to rainfall, the entity will be constantly monitoring this territory, especially on Sunday and Monday afternoons.
