Claudia Sheinbaum installed a disarmament module in the Metropolitan Cathedral

The Government of Mexico City continued its program against violence and thanked the Catholic Church for the space for the delivery of weapons in exchange for money

This Saturday, March 19, the Head of Government of Mexico City staged an event to promote its programs to eradicate violence, among which she highlighted the one aimed at disarming society in exchange for money.

On the esplanade of the Metropolitan Cathedral, Claudia Sheinbaum inaugurated a new module of the program “Yes to disarmament, yes to peace”, with which the expansion of points in Mexico City continues so that citizens can exchange any type of weapon in exchange for money.

On this occasion, the president boasted the installation in one of the most emblematic points of the capital, with the aim of promoting the eradication of weapons, so she promoted the quality of anonymity to anyone who comes to exchange it for money.

In addition to thanking the Church, especially the rector of the Metropolitan Cathedral Ricardo Valenzuela, for providing space in the atrium to install the module, the capital's president took the opportunity to publicize the new program “Reconecta”, which aims to guide young people to probably abandon activity crimes in the direction of sports.

“You have a different choice of life, you can purge your sentence in prison, or you can join a different program. And they have to be convinced, it's not obligatory,” Sheinbaum said during the press conference.

The Head of Government of CDMX was accompanied by the Secretary of Government, Martí Batres, who dedicated a message to those present and reiterated her thanks to those who have facilitated the installation of these modules throughout the city.
