The Mandalorian adds another renowned star to its cast for new episodes coming soon to Disney+. According to recent information, Christopher Lloyd will appear in the third season that is currently being filmed in Southern California, United States. The 83-year-old actor is widely remembered for his role as Doc in the films Back to the Future, which he starred alongside Michael J. Fox.

The confirmation of this new signing came from The Hollywood Reporter magazine, although details about the role it will play in the Star Wars series have not yet been released. He has only been described as a “guest star”, so it is believed that this appearance could be very brief compared to the recurring actors who were part of the first two installments.

Lloyd gave life to Dr. Emmett Brown, a scientist and time traveler, in the Back to the Future trilogy, which was screened in cinema in the late 80s and early 90s. But this wasn't his only step into the science fiction genre, as he also played the villain Klingon Commander Kruge in 1984's Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. In addition, the Emmy winner was part of the cast of the comedy Taxi, which aired between 1978 and 1983. The most recent works in his filmography include Nobody, with Bob Odenkirk, and The Tender Bar, directed by George Clooney.

El auge de The Mandalorian, la primera serie live-action de Star Wars

Jon Favreau is the mind behind the first live-action television production of Star Wars to be titled The Mandalorian. The first season was launched in 2019 through Disney+, and its landing in the catalog was key to attracting a large number of new subscribers to the platform. After the success of its debut, it was renewed by a second batch of episodes that aired in late 2020 and finally made it possible to expand it with other spin-off projects (The Book by Boba Fett and Ahsoka). Meanwhile, the third one has already started filming to be released between this year and next year.

The story, starring Pedro Pascal, follows a bounty hunter who changes the course of his life when he encounters a helpless creature pursued by the empire's lags. This Mandalorian becomes the protector of Grogu — Yoda's little alien of the same race — and will fight anyone who stands in his way to snatch the “boy” from him.

Boba Fett's book (with the great return of Temuera Morrison) showed a kind of continuation of the last seen of these two characters last season. The next series to explore Tatooine's stage, where the series have recently been set, will be Obi-Wan Kenobi, a fiction in which Ewan McGregor will resume his role after his participation in the prequels directed by George Lucas. According to what is known from this upcoming proposal from the Star Wars universe, actor Hayden Christensen will once again take on the shoes of Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader) and Rosario Dawson, one of the last stars to join the franchise, will do the same with Ahsoka.
