MADRID (AP) — Jorge “Koke” Resurrección premiered as a scorer in the campaign and led Atletico Madrid to a 1-0 derby win against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday, for the mattress team to extend their winning streak to five rounds in the spanish La Liga.
“Koke” was combined on a wall with João Felix, who returned him with an advantage inside the box to sentence by means of a crossover shot at 48 minutes.
The colchoneros continued at their best during this season. They celebrated a month since their last defeat (1-0 to Levante, on February 16).
“We hit the key, we have increased the intensity and concentration. The team is playing very good games and it is reflected in the results,” said “Koke”, a native of the Vallecas community of Madrid.
With this resurgence, Atleti marches in third position with 54 units, two behind Sevilla, which will face Real Sociedad, and 12 from the leader Real Madrid, who this Sunday will face Barcelona (51) in the classic for the 29th round.
Rayo is still on a slide, where he accumulates 10 days without a win (eight defeats and two draws) to sink to 13th place with 32 units.
Atlético is hooking up again in the home competition after having completed their pass to the Champions League quarterfinals, a tournament in which they will face Manchester City after having eliminated Manchester United in the round of 16.

The goalkeeper Jan Oblak also showed his best level in a campaign in which he has struggled to avoid equality with a superb reaction to save down a shot by Mario Suárez at the edge of 60 minutes.
In the final stretch, winger Ángel Correa was expelled. The Argentine saw the direct red card in the 85th minute, just 21 after entering as a substitute, due to something he said to referee José Luis Munuera Montero.
VALENCIA, AT A GOOD TIME
