Vive Latino 2022: “Uncle Robert” show could be canceled after allegations of sexual abuse

The standupero responded to the allegations in a statement and it is unknown so far whether he will participate in the Vive Latino 2022 as part of his podcast

Following allegations of alleged sexual abuse, the presentation of Roberto Andrade, better known in the stand-up world as Tío Robert, at Vive Latino 2022 would be at risk of being canceled. So far it is unknown whether the organizers or the comedian himself made a decision in response to requests to avoid his show at the festival as part of La Hour Feliz.

It all started a few days ago, when TikTok user @nicsofiadiaz shared her testimony of sexual abuse through a video that is currently no longer available on her account. According to her account, she met the comedian in 2019 after attending one of his performances and it would have been he who approached her to meet her and ask for a way to establish contact.

As he explained, from the first moment he told him that he was 19 years old, a fact that would not have taken relevance for either of them. Later, the standupero would have communicated with her through Instagram, where they started talking and invited her to other presentations. This is how the days passed until he accepted an invitation to visit him at his home.

“One day he invited me to his house to have some mezcales and then go to a show, and if you ask me why I didn't think it strange that a man was inviting me to his house the first time we went out, but the truth is I always thought: 'He's a public person, I'm going to meet him, '” he said.

The coexistence became more constant and, after a show, they would have returned to the comedian's house, where the abuse would have been committed. Sofia Diaz recalled: “It was time to sleep together. At this point I want to tell you that I never had sex with this man, so the problem, I didn't want to.”

Because of Roberto Andrade's insistence and annoyance, the young woman agreed to let me touch her: “I let him touch me and he saw that I started crying and he got angry, he told me that if I was going to put myself in that attitude, that he didn't want me to. In the end he let me sleep, I couldn't stop crying but he didn't care.”

The next day, they would have had breakfast together and during that time the standupero questioned her about why she didn't want to have sex with him. After what happened, Diaz sought a way out by telling him that he had the Human Papillomavirus since 2016, a situation that ended up alarming him and driving him away definitively.

TikTok soon went viral on social networks, where some users asked that the alleged abuse be investigated and demanded that the presentation of Tío Rober be canceled, as part of Happy Hour, at Vive Latino 2022. After the controversy that broke out, Roberto Andrade issued a press release in which he flatly denied the allegations of the one who said, is his ex-girlfriend, and assured that there was never any violence.

“From the day I met Miss Sofía Díaz, until the last contact I had with her, I never performed any act or approach with her that was not consensual [...] there was never any pressure or violence on my part, either directly or indirectly, of any kind and of any degree to force [...] to carry out any act against her will”, the document reads.
