The parade will begin at 7 pm with a tribute to musician Aníbal Velásquez and some 10,000 artists who will perform on the streets of the Atlantic capital. The troupes will start from Carrera 44 with Calle 70, accompanying the carnival queen, Valeria Charris, with the music of the honoree.
This edition will be celebrated again in the face-to-face mode after two years, due to the pandemic caused by COVID — 19, but that will not prevent some biosecurity measures from being taken, for example, and in each street there will be self-care devices for spectators and carnivalers, they will have to buy masks, wash the hands and so on. Also, with technological devices and security rings, the Barranquilla Police will provide surveillance.
The general of the Barranquilla Metropolitan Police, Luis Carlos Hernández, assures that the security joints will be accompanied by 2000 uniformed personnel, of whom more than 100 belong to the Transit and Transport section to control the mobility of the city.
Attendees must bear in mind that the entrance will take place through 76th and 79th Streets, there will be no entry through 70, 72 and 75; in addition, the entire route will be enclosed by fences in order to ensure maximum control of the event.
The mayor's office of Barranquilla announced that from 2:00 in the afternoon there will be road closures, at that time the passage through Carrera 44 will be restricted between 80th and 70th Streets (not including 80th, 79th and 76th Streets). At 3 in the afternoon they will close Race 44 between 64 and 69 Streets. From the 4th in the same race the closures will be at 53rd and 63rd Streets, also, in Race 54 between 48th and 53rd Streets.
From 6 in the afternoon the Transmetro service will be suspended at La Catedral station and at 8 in the evening the service will end. The manager of the company Fernando Isaza said:

In her speech, the director of Carnaval S.A., Sandra Gómez, hopes that for the night of Guacherna a capacity of about 200,000 people will be expected throughout the entire route of the 44th race, starting from 70th Street and culminating in Barrio Abajo, as has traditionally been done. The event is scheduled to end at 10 pm.
