One of the events that was canceled due to the covid-19 pandemic was the coronation of the Miss World 2021 beauty contest, which was to be held in December of that year, but had to be postponed to March 2022. Finally, it took place this week in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Poland's representative Karolina Bielawska took the crown.
On the other hand, Miss World United States, Shree Saini, and Ivory Coast, Olivia Yace, came in second and third place, respectively. One of the aspects that should be highlighted in the 70th edition of the contest is that it is the first time that it has moved to a Spanish-speaking place throughout its history as a beauty contest. For this reason, criticism was generated at the event because a better positioning of Latina representatives was expected.
“When I heard my name it surprised me, I still can't believe it. I am honored,” said the winner, according to the EFE agency, after being crowned the most beautiful woman in the world. She received the crown of Toni-Ann Singh, the Jamaican who wore the Miss World crown from 2019 until now, all because of covid-19.
