The Attorney General's Office announced that in the last few hours, before a guarantee control judge in Tambo, Cauca, it prosecuted Pedro Octavio Urrea Rodríguez, allegedly involved in the murder of ACIN counselor Miller Correa Vásquez.
According to the investigating body, Urrea would be responsible for hiding the vehicle in which the councillor of the Association of Indigenous Cabildos del Norte del Cauca (ACIN) was mobilizing, on March 15 when he was killed in the rural area of Popayán, Cauca.
The capture of the subject was made thanks to a search and search diligence carried out by members of the Attorney General's Office and the National Police on a farm in El Higuerón village in El Tambo, Cauca.
Authorities explained that there was the vehicle where Councilor Miller Correa was driving when he was killed. The van was parked and covered with plastic. The authority added that the vehicle “was stolen after the murder of the ACIN counselor”.
According to the information issued by the Prosecutor's Office, the finding was achieved thanks to the GPS located in the vehicle in which the ASIN Advisor was moving when he was intercepted.
“Investigators from the Technical Investigation Corps of the Cauca and Sijin Sectional of the National Police tracked the car by GPS, reaching its location, approximately 30 minutes away from where Correa was killed,” explained the Attorney General's Office.
A prosecutor from the Cauca Sectional charged Pedro Octavio Urrea with the crime of concealing, altering or destroying material evidence. Likewise, he was charged with the crime of reception. It should be noted that none of the offences mentioned was accepted by the prisoner.
It was particularly striking that despite having Miller Correa's vehicle under his power, the judge in the case decided that Pedro Octavio Urrea would face the process under the insurance measure in his place of residence, that is, he imposed the house-to-prison measure.
