This Thursday, March 17, the Mayor's Office of Bogotá announced that the town of Sumapaz will have ten state-of-the-art connectivity points through which it is planned to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of this sector in the southeast of the capital.
This was announced by the Office of the High Council for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), which visited this sector, which has historically been affected by the armed conflict, in which the technical and geographical conditions were reviewed in order to advance the planning and implementation of this service that will feature the installation of antennas that will allow the connection of the inhabitants.
“We visited some places that will have connectivity infrastructure. In Sumapaz we will install five antennas for 3G and 4G services, ten Campesino Connectivity Centers (CCC) and five WiFi Zones that will improve the quality of life of citizens. We also visited several Campesino Connectivity Centers that are at the service of the inhabitants of the town. In them they learn about office automation, design, digital tools and entrepreneurship, “said the ICT High Council.
During the tour, which was carried out in the company of the Secretary of Government, Felipe Jiménez Ángel; the local mayor of Sumapaz, Germán Medellín; the Habitat Secretary; Nadya Rangel; the High Councillor for Peace, Victims and Reconciliation, Vladimir Rodríguez; the facilities of CCC Nazareth, located on the second floor of the communal hall, were reviewed in which seven computers with internet access for the community are installed.
“The population takes advantage of this space for the development of school activities, participation in training, communication with people living outside Sumapaz and accessing digital services from district entities,” said CCC administrator Adriana Lucía Martín.
In addition, the Office of the High Council, with the support of SENA, provided training for some citizens on issues of digital entrepreneurship and channels that enhance rural productivity, while the new offer of talent training programmes was socialized, which is available to managers, who will be responsible for to dispose it to the peasants.
“We had the opportunity to tell the whole community how we are going to close the gap by bringing state-of-the-art connectivity, ensuring that people have a digital appropriation process and that technology really becomes an enabler of the region's development,” said the senior district councillor for ICT, Felipe Guzmán Ramirez.
As part of the announced investment of 160 billion, $44,896,798,913 corresponds to the project for the implementation of ICT connectivity and appropriation services in the locality. This will be implemented within 36 months, directly benefiting 7,457 people and indirectly 27,058 inhabitants located in neighboring population centers of the region.
With this work, more than 1,300 inhabitants of this rural town will have data plans and training workshops on the basic use of information and communication technologies, through this initiative the aim is to strengthen the rural and productive sector in the town.
