Gran Turismo 7 has been facing numerous problems since the release of update 1.07, which due to an internal error has taken Polyphony Digital servers out of service for a few hours. Thousands of users viralized their claims and negatively exploded the title score, since it requires an Internet connection to play it.
The problem broke out after the developer published an announcement of a maintenance yesterday, when its new patch corrupted the online connection with its players.
On the Gran Turismo website, Kazunori Yamauchi (director of Polyphony Digital), explained what happened in an official statement and apologized to users through his social networks.
“This was a rare problem that was not detected during hardware development or QA sessions prior to launch. In order to prioritize the security of our users' files, we decided to discontinue update 1.07,” said the CEO.
In addition to the connection problem, the patch had reduced credit rewards for many of the races in Gran Turismo 7. This produced great indignation among players who felt compelled to engage in a microtransaction system that had been launched after analysis by the specialized press.
“At GT7 I want users to be able to enjoy many cars and races, even without microtransactions. At the same time, the price of cars is important to demonstrate the collectible value of cars, so I think it is important that it is tied to real-world prices,” Kazunori wrote, adding that he also wanted to avoid situations where players would have to play mechanically to get the necessary credits.
