Ramón Jesurún and Álvaro González, ratified in the leadership of the FCF

Despite criticism for his management, especially with regard to the management of women's football, the work with the lower divisions of the national teams and the fact that the coffee team is on the verge of running out of quota towards the world cup, Ramón Jesurún was ratified as the president of the Colombian Football Federation (FCF), as was the the rest of the executive committee.

Specifically in the committee were re-elected the president of La Dimayor, Fernando Jaramillo and the president of Difútbol, Álvaro González, as well as members Juan Fernando Mejía, Luis Gabriel Miranda and Elkin Arce. The only one replaced was Javier Cogollo, who could not be re-elected after completing 3 statutory terms. His replacement was Jaime Ordóñez.

At the ordinary assembly, held at the FCF headquarters in Bogotá, first took stock of what was done by Difútbol and Dimayor. After that, the 2021 management report was presented specifically to the FCF, as well as the projects and budget to be implemented during the new mandate year were presented.

The president of the federation also recalled the renewals with the sponsors, one of them with Caracol TV had for “a historic amount” and the other with Adidas, for 8 years. The same with other brands (Águila, Servientrega, Avianca, Bancolombia, Homecenter, Movistar) that had been part of the family of allies continued their bond. In addition to the new inclusions of Colombiana, BetPlay and Rappi.

According to the FCF, from 2019 to 2022 “members were provided for their economic well-being with contributions of 67 billion pesos, which contributed to the development of football in the country. With regard to financial issues, the financial statements for the financial year 2021 were presented, whose management was recognized by the Assembly and approved unanimously. Similarly, the budget for 2022 was unanimously approved.”

Carlo El Pibe Valderrama, one of the emblematic players in the history of national football, argued that just as football players are required to perform, the same must be done with the FCF leadership, questioned, among others, by the work carried out in the lower categories. It is not a secret to anyone that you don't have a good litter of young people with projection, as it did exist years ago under the baton of Eduardo Lara: some of them, for example, participated in the selection that qualified for Brazil 2014.

The next matches of the Colombian team in search of the world cup dream will be on March 24, against Bolivia, and on the 29th of that same month, against Venezuela. To move forward, you'll need to expect Chile and Peru to score as few points as possible.
