The head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, and the mayor of Cuajimalpa, Adrián Rubalcava, toured the section of the Interurban Train that is located in the capital of the country and announced that there is still no deadline for the project, despite the fact that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) promised that it would be completed this year.
Before the media present, the local president indicated that the lack of an official date is due to the fact that it is a complex work of more than 16.6 kilometers, initiated by the previous local and federal administrations and that it was resumed by the current ones.
“As you know, this is a work that began in the previous government, we are resuming the work, particularly the one that goes from the State of Mexico to Mexico City; without 16.6 kilometers, it is a complex work, some places have heights of more than 40 meters, they are going to run an Interurban Train,” he explained
After reviewing progress on the Mexico-Marquesa federal highway, in the so-called “False Tunnel” in Lomas de Santa Fe, as well as at Santa Fe station, Sheinbaum Pardo said that very hard work is being done to ensure that the project ends on time, so, he argued, the construction entrepreneurs committed to citizens to achieve this objective.
Deepening on the last point, the head of the local executive pointed out that the construction entrepreneurs committed themselves to accelerating the work, a situation that has already begun because the team and the workforce have been increased so that the work “is completed on time for the benefit of the public”.
In addition to increasing manpower, it was also indicated that diaphragms were cast; closure of skirts, sardinels and sidewalks; delivery of 45 clearings over a period of two and a half weeks; the entry of a micropiler into the “False Tunnel”, as well as the reconstruction of a roof and wall of a house affected by jobs in that area, among other jobs.
It should be recalled that on December 26, the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SCIT) announced that 42 kilometers of the Mexico-Toluca Interurban Train (TIMT) had been completed, reporting 76.4% of the progress.
From the work that consists of 57.87 kilometers, it was revealed that Sections I and II, as well as the road of the latter, are 100% finished. Likewise, the remaining tracks, catenary and electromechanical works show improvements of 50%. Activities in these areas continue, as well as in Section III and the expansion to connect the Lechería branch with the “Felipe Ángeles” International Airport (AIFA), located in Santa Lucia.
According to the Secretariat, in Section I the track is 86% (31 kilometers) in advance; catenary 75% (27 kilometers) and pipelines or cabling with 61% advance. In Section II, the catenary reveals advantages of 40% and the pipelines 90%. In addition, in Section I the stations of Zinacantepec, Pino Suárez, Tecnológico and Lerma are energized; as well as workshops and garages, the SICT said.
