Many of Nick Kyrgios' matches have moments of tension, but they have rarely starred one of the most famous actors in the world. In his fall to Rafael Nadal in the Indian Wells quarterfinals, the Australian player staged a cross with one of the fans and ended up involving Ben Stiller, who is a big fan of tennis and was sitting close to the conflict.
During the third set of the match, Kyrgios interrupted his serve in one of the most important games to face a person from the audience who was talking to him. “Relax! Are you playing? Are you a good tennis player? Exactly, then why are you talking,” the aussie tennis player shot.
It so happened that very close was Ben Stiller, an avowed fan of Rafael Nadal, who was in the stands accompanied by his wife Christine Taylor cheering on the Spanish tennis player and became part of the discussion.
“Do I tell him (Ben Stiller) how he should act? Don't!” , said Kyrgios, which caused laughter throughout the stadium, including the actor who is known for his roles in films such as Loco por Mary or Zoolander, among others. The former number 13 in the ATP ranking continued with the match and was eventually defeated by 7-6 (7-0), 5-7 and 6-4 in 2 hours and 46 minutes.
Ben Stiller recently recognized that Nadal is one of his favorite tennis players. “I'm a big fan of Rafa and what he did at the Australian Open this year was amazing. Well, this year he hasn't lost any games yet, he's having an impressive season,” said the famous actor in an interview on the Spanish TV show 'El Hormiguero'.
Kyrgios (132nd), who arrived by invitation to Indian Wells, dispatched himself with a series of luxuries in his duel against the 35-year-old Mallorcan: he managed to pull twice from below and one of them between his legs, which generated the amazement of the 10,000 people present at the stadium. Although he also brought out his rebellious side when he broke his racket or when arguing with the umpire for a double fault.
