Julio 'Coyote' Rivera: government ends office as president of the IPD

The former footballer and brother of Paolo Guerrero was only two months in charge of the institute. The supreme resolution is signed by Peruvian President Pedro Castillo.

Through a supreme resolution published this Friday, March 18, the Government closed the appointment of Julio Rivera as president of the IPD. The former footballer was in office for approximately two months and the reason for his sudden departure is not specified. However, his choice was heavily criticized for his little experience in acquiring the position.

Letter number 006-2022 MINEDU, signed by the President of Peru, Pedro Castillo, and the Minister of Education, Rosendo Sera, confirms the dismissal of Paolo Guerrero's brother, who had just taken office in January of this year.

“It has been considered appropriate to terminate the appointment of the aforementioned servant in the position of President of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD). In accordance with the provisions of Law No. 27594, the law regulating the participation of the Executive Branch in the appointment and appointment of public officials”, can be read in the document published in the newspaper El Peruano.
