Social networks have been the setting in which different controversies have gone viral. One of them was the one starred by Julio Cesar Chavez with Marco Antonio Barrera. In February, the great champion called Marco Barrera a “pend*****” for having spoken publicly about the problems of drug addiction suffered by Chavez González.

The issue was forgotten when El Barreta offered an apology on Twitter. But recently Julio Cesar spoke again about the uncomfortable situation and made it clear that he does not currently have any kind of enmity with Marco Barrera.

For the podcast Un Round Más by Erik Terrible Morales, Chávez told his side of events and although at the time he offended the former champion with high-sounding words, he ruled out a personal conflict with him. The current sports commentator for Box Azteca said: “I don't have a problem with Barrera, really.”

He began by clarifying the statements that El Tapia said for Roberto Mtz's Creative podcast. In that talk, Marco Antonio touched on the legacy of Mexican boxers and compared Saúl Canelo Álvarez to JC Chavez, he was encouraged to refute the work of Cesar in boxing for being a “drug addict” and not a “100 percent athlete”.

According to Chávez's own testimony, he didn't know about the existence of that video, so the controversial Twitter post in which he defended his sporting legacy, calling those who believed otherwise a “pend****” was never directed at Marco Barrera.

“I didn't even see the interview. I didn't put what I put in for him, but then I realized that he had an interview, I don't know who, where he talks about my drug addiction and all that, they take out Canelo, who are always comparing me to Canelo,” he said.

Julio César later added that he later learned the words Barrera expressed on Roberto Mtz's YouTube channel. And although the statement directly threatened Mr. Knockout's boxing career, the former Sonoran boxer claimed that they didn't bother him at all, he even blamed boxing fans for being responsible for the misunderstanding that there was.

“There were some words there that, in particular, didn't bother me and people started throwing him out, but I didn't have any problems with Barrera, really,” said the great Mexican champion.

Finally, he confessed the affection he has for Barrera, since both coincided in professional boxing during the nineties.
