Italy calls 33 players for the 2022 World Cup Repechage

The Italian coach Roberto Mancini revealed on Friday the list of 33 players called up for the qualification playoff for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Italians will face North Macedonia in Palermo on Thursday 24th in the semifinals of the repechage, and then, in case of victory, Portugal or Turkey on March 29 as a visitor, to qualify for the World Cup.

The players will reach the call, scheduled at the national center of Coverciano, in Florence, by dropping, as soon as the weekend's matches have been played.

The big absentees from the list are Leonardo Spinazzola (Rome), who has not recovered since his Achilles tendon rupture in the Euro Cup, and Federico Chiesa (Juventus), injured in his knee until the end of the season.

Roberto Mancini decided not to call the attacker Mario Balotelli (Adana Demirspor), despite having cited his name on numerous occasions and ensuring that the national team's doors were still open for the striker.

Midfielder Manuel Locatelli, if he is called up, despite his positive on Covid-19 announced on Thursday by his team, Juventus.

This list is also marked by the first call of Luiz Felipe, central defender of Lazio, and Joao Pedro, Cagliari's attacker.
