In two violent assaults, two police officers were injured when they tried to prevent criminals from robbing them at the entrance of their homes. Similar data from the episodes are surprising: the officers were shot and in both cases the robbers wanted to take their vans.

The first incident occurred yesterday at 122nd streets between 10 and 11, in the town of Berazategui Oeste, south of Greater Buenos Aires. There, a 62-year-old active Federal Police NCO was leaving his home aboard a Volkswagen Amarok van when he was suddenly approached by three armed assailants who tried to steal his vehicle.

According to the Telam agency, the cash resisted the assault and there was a shooting with the robbers. It all ended when the victim received three bullet wounds to the abdomen and one to the left arm. After the confrontation, two of the criminals escaped on foot, although the officers of the 1st Police Station in Berazategui, who had been alerted to the incident, managed to apprehend them four blocks away.

At the scene of the attack, investigators hijacked a .40 caliber Bersa pistol, which had been thrown into a house by one of the suspects. Meanwhile, the non-commissioned officer was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he underwent surgery and for now remains in a reserved state. Similarly, the uniformed personnel who participated in the operation found the federal policeman's statutory weapon in their van. The case involves prosecutor Ernesto Ichazo, in charge of the decentralized Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 1 of Berazategui, who will investigate the suspects today.

Almost in parallel, almost 40 kilometers away, a first lieutenant of the Buenos Aires Province Police was shot in the arm after shooting criminals who also tried to steal his van when he arrived at his home.

The attempted robbery occurred at the corner of Alberti and Sarandi streets, in La Tablada, in the west of Greater Buenos Aires. The officer of La Buenarense was on duty and dressed in civilian clothes at the time of the incident. According to the reconstruction that the investigators were able to carry out, the victim arrived at his home in a Volkswagen Amarok van, when he was intercepted by at least three armed criminals traveling in a Gol Trend car.

The assailants got out of the vehicle and tried to steal the van from the policeman, who took shelter behind another car and started shooting at them. It was then that there was a shooting that ended when the lieutenant was shot in the left arm, at the height of the elbow. The criminals fled the scene, while the policeman was taken by neighbors in a private car to the Balestrini hospital, where he was stably admitted to the operating room for surgery. For now, he remains interned. Meanwhile, investigators do not rule out that one of the assailants was injured.

According to the data that transpired, the first lieutenant was currently serving as custody of Felix Lamas, president of the Chamber of Appeal and Criminal Guarantees of La Matanza. The file involves the prosecutor Alejandra Núñez, in charge of the Functional Investigation Unit No. 8 of the Judicial Department of La Matanza.
