There will be a final of the Concacaf Champions League, better known as Concachampions, between a US MLS franchise and a Liga MX club.

Three Colombians will have the opportunity to compete in the semifinals of the Central American competition wearing the Seattle Sounders FC jersey, the Washington State franchise where Jimmy Medranda, Yeimar Pastor Gómez and Fredy Montero play.

The latter is the current figure in attack of the green team after converting his third consecutive penalty goal in the US squad that on the night of this Thursday, March 17, eliminated Club León de México with an overall result of 4-1.

Montero started as a starting striker in the MLS team within the 5-4-1 scheme proposed by coach Brian Schmetzer and celebrated the first goal of the night of the 1-1 final on the return on the León court when at the 45+3 minute after Colombia's central defender William Tesillo turned him into a penalty Brazilian midfielder João Paulo.

Fredy set out to collect in the one-on-one duel against Rodolfo Cota. The Atlantic ram defined his right leg at the angle of his direction and thus celebrated the 0-1 that left the series practically sentenced in favor of the Americans:

After winning the first leg by 0-3, Seattle Sounders drew 1-1 on the second leg and managed to overcome the tie against León without major complications, making him the final semifinalist of the Concachampions.

The Mexican team managed to tie the game back to the 90+1 minute with the score of Fidel Ambriz, to seal the final 4-1 of the series.

In this way, the team led by Brian Schmetzer authoritatively beat La Fiera and with their triumph on the global scoreboard ensured that the MLS has a representative in the grand final, as they will be measured in back-and-forth duels against the current MLS Cup champion, New York City FC, matches that will be played from 5 to 14 April, first in the Lumen Field in Seattle and finally at Yankee Stadium in Bronx.

For the other key of the competition, they will play a place in the grand final Pumas UNAM and Cruz Azul. This is how the final standings were in the dispute for the continental title ahead of the quota given to the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup:

This is the fourth goal of the year for Freddy Montero, who has just turned Leon double into the first leg of the quarterfinals of the 2022 Concachampions and also scored LA Galaxy's penalty on Saturday 12 March in the 3-2 victory of the Washington franchise for the 3rd date of the Western Conference the MLS 2022.

At 34, Fredy is Seattle's attacking bet to face the 2022 MLS season. The striker from Campo de la Cruz has signed a contract with the Sounders until December of this year and has earned title in the last four matches played by his team.

The next challenge for the Montero, Gómez and Medranda club will be to face as a visitor to the franchise that premiered last season in MLS: Austin FC. The match will be played this Sunday, March 20 at 3:30pm Colombian time and will feature Star Plus broadcasting throughout Latin America.
