Foreign Ministry visited Colombians arrested for the assassination of Haiti and gave them food support

During the visit, it was possible to establish the status of those arrested and the future of three bodies that were in this country was defined.

The Colombian Foreign Ministry confirmed that in the last few hours the country's consul in the Dominican Republic traveled to Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, in order to bring humanitarian aid to the 18 Colombians who are detained for the assassination of Jovenel Moise, president of the Central American country. This visit was carried out in order to establish the status of the captured, following the various complaints claiming the precariousness of their rights.

Consul Julio Santa arrived on the island from the humanitarian aspect, noting that he was able to attest that the detainees are in good health, in addition to this, they received food donations in the Port-au-Prince prison where they remain attentive to the resolution of their future judicial system.

Regarding this humanitarian visit, the Foreign Ministry stressed: “Consul in Rep. The Dominican Republic, concurrent for Haiti, delivered food donations to the Port-au-Prince prison for the 18 Colombians arrested for their alleged participation in the assassination of President Jovenel Moise. The Consul verified that they are in good health.” .

On the other hand, according to the newspaper El País, there are important changes for the former soldiers who were killed in the midst of this operation that ended Jovenel Moise's life, considering that three Colombians died in this action, the bodies are housed in the morgue and were identified as Duberney Capador, who was allegedly the leader of this operation and, in addition to this, the two former soldiers Miguel Garzón and Mauricio Romero.

Romero, Garzón and Capador will be cremated by the advanced state of decomposition in which the bodies are found, this action was endorsed by the relatives of the deceased, who will see the process of incineration via the web. The relatives of the deceased had already made the request to carry out this process since January, but until now they have been notified by the National Government and the authorities of the Central American country.

The execution of this assassination took place on July 7, 2021, after 26 mercenaries arrived at the house where the Haitian president lived, after entering the house, they executed him and shot him also trying to end the life of his wife, Martine Moise. Among this group of men were 18 ex-Colombian soldiers, who tried to hide in different parts of the city, but were captured by the authorities.

The recruitment of the participants in this crime took place through four companies based in the United States, according to the authorities. Some already knew the territory in such a way that they facilitated the incursion into Moise's house, the first lady managed to flee amid the sound of machine guns being fired on the spot, she was later taken to the United States where she managed to recover from her injuries and exposed everything that happened. It should be noted that the US government raised its voice of protest in rejection of these events, and also sent investigative teams to determine in detail, each of the motives of the crime.

The last months of the president of Haiti were troubled and controversial, as this attempt to recover the country after the 2010 earthquake and the aftermath left 7 years later, Moise assumed the presidency on February 7, 2017. After taking office, in the midst of his shaky term, rumors emerged that he would have a list about important figures in the country who would have to do with drug trafficking and corruption, however, this argument was not functional to convince the Haitian people who were demanding their resignation from the streets.

Regarding this case, the Haitian-Chilean citizen Rodolphe Jaar was captured in the Dominican Republic after being told that he had handed over the arsenal of weapons and ammunition to the former Colombian military, in addition to this one, the retired Colombian sergeant, Mario Antonio Palacio, was also captured.
