The winning candidate of the consultation by the Centro Esperanza Coalition, Sergio Fajardo, presented the campaign team with which he will seek to attract votes from various sectors of the center. Several of his new teammates were losers from the same consultation or the legislative elections of March 13.

An enthusiastic Fajardo talked about his new team through a video he shared on his social networks. Of course, he first referred to who is his vice-presidential formula since Thursday, Luis Gilberto Murillo, engineer, dismissed governor of Chocó and former Minister of Environment of the Santos government. Fajardo said Murillo “will be touring Colombia and leading environmental issues.”

Murillo, who was also going to be a pre-candidate for the Esperanza Center and retired from the consultation in January, shared Fajardo's video with this message:

In charge of the votes of liberal and progressive sectors was the former senator and former presidential pre-candidate of the New Liberalism, Juan Manuel Galán, who came second in the interparty consultation with 486,808 votes. For his part, Carlos Amaya, former governor of Boyacá and third place in the consultation with 451,122 votes, was appointed by Fajardo to approach youth and the Colombian rural sector.

Alejandro Gaviria, former Minister of Health, former rector of the Universidad de los Andes and fourth place in the consultation with 336,385 votes, will be the programmatic and participation director of the campaign of Sergio Fajardo, “who coordinates all the teams of the different coalition candidates and collects proposals to integrate them”.

Former Senator and former candidate for the Dignidad movement, Jorge Enrique Robledo, last place in the consultation with 161,176, was tasked with coordinating the volunteer and civil society teams that will join the Fajardo campaign.

Journalist Mábel Lara, one of the most notable figures on the list closed to the Senate for the New Liberalism — which did not reach any seats — was charged with bringing Colombian ethnic groups and minorities to the presidential aspiration.

Mábel has not commented on his new assignment, but he did share Fajardo's video. He also welcomed the invitation that Christian presidential candidate John Milton Rodriguez extended to Sandra de las Lajas to be his vice-presidential formula.

In addition to calling the Burns Pavilion of the Centro Esperanza Coalition, Fajardo also called Catalina Ortiz, a businesswoman and outgoing representative from Valle del Cauca who did not seek a seat in Sunday's elections. She will be the national director of women.

Finally, Juan Fernando Cristo, former senator, former Minister of the Interior of Juan Manuel Santos and former pre-candidate who retired from the presidential race last February, was appointed as the political director of the campaign.

Fajardo assured that he has “a great team with which we are going to win” and that the road to the presidency “is just beginning”. He closed the video predicting that next week will be “exciting”.

Without learning much from what happened in 2018, Sergio Fajardo is again assuring that he is the only presidential candidate who can curb the aspirations of the leader of the Historical Pact, Gustavo Petro.

“Petro must be happy to see how they ride Fico as a contender because he knows that he beats him easily in the second round. We are the option that can face and beat Petro,” said the presidential candidate of the Centro Esperanza coalition through his social networks.
