Donovan Solano, one of the most experienced Colombians in major league baseball, was confirmed as the new player for Los Rejos de Cincinatti. The last season of the baseball player baranquillero was with Giants of San Francisco, where he received in 2020 the silver bat award for best footballer in his position.

Press rumors indicate that the agreement between the player and the Reds was signed at 4.5 million dollars, approximately $375,000 per month. Solano debuted in 2012 when he arrived at the Miami Marlins, since then he has been through the New York Yankees and the aforementioned San Francisco Giants.

Donovan Solano has a batting average of .277, with 23 home runs and 182 runs produced in eight years as an MLB professional. Some of the players who have passed through Cincinatti are: Edgar Renteria, Orlando Cabrera, Jolbert Cabrera, Dayan Díaz, Dilson Herrera and Reiver Sanmartín, the pitcher with whom the barranquillero will share training.

Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Major League Players Association (MLBPA) announced Thursday that they have reached an agreement to end the lockout and detailed that the season will begin on April 7.

“The collective agreement must still be ratified by both parties before it becomes official. Once that happens, spring practices are expected to begin on Sunday by ending the three-month lockout,” MLB explained in a statement.

The announcement of the agreement was announced just one day after MLB had delayed the start of the new season until April 14. However, with the end of the lockout agreed today, a season of 162 matches will be held and the series that had initially been canceled will be rescheduled to be included in the calendar.

After three seasons, Colombia will have no representatives in the New York Yankees by 2022. On Sunday night, the New York team announced, through their social networks, that Colombian baseball player Giovanny Urshela was included along with Dominican receiver Gary Sanchez in an exchange with the Minnesota Twins.

“The New York Yankees announced today that they acquired INF Josh Donaldson, INF Isiah Kiner-Falefa and C Ben Rortvedt of the Minnesota Twins in exchange for C Gary Sanchez and INF Gio Urshela,” the Yankees posted on their Twitter account.

The news about the Colombian's departure fell by surprise in the environment of the 'Bronx Bombers', as Aaron Boone, manager of the squad, had earlier explained that Urshela would have a change of position on the pitch. The Cartagenero would go from working as a defensive player to shortstop (short stop).

Thus, the Yankees will have in their ranks the catcher, Ben Rortvedt, and the infielders Josh Donaldson and Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who beat Urshela in the 2020 Golden Glove dispute, an award that distinguishes the best third baseman of the season.
