After rumored in the national press, as well as on social networks, that the rector of EAN University, Brigitte Baptiste, would be the vice-presidential formula of the presidential candidate, Federico Gutiérrez, she referred to the issue, denied that information and even announced who she will vote for in the first round.

The former director of the Alexander Von Humboldt Institute was a trend this week after journalist Darcy Quinn, from La FM, said that she would be the token that the former mayor of Medellín would have to accompany him in his career to arrive at Casa de Nariño.

However, she herself denied these claims through her Twitter account, after several netizens launched her against her for allegedly supporting the Team's candidate for Colombia.

In addition, the fellow member and activist of the LGBTIQ+ community assured that she remains firm in supporting the elected candidate of the Hope Center Coalition. “I maintain my citizen support for Sergio Fajardo, now with Luis Murillo and the team from Centro Esperanza,” he said in his trill.

The support of the rector of the EAN for the former governor of Antioquia did not go unnoticed by him, who highlighted the role that trans women have in Colombian democracy and urged his vice-presidential formula to meet the expectations of both Baptiste and other Colombians.

“Brigitte Baptiste is a crucial voice for Colombia. On this path we are starting, it is a pride to count on your support to question us, debate and build a country where the environment is finally! play a central role. It's a commitment we have with Luis Murillo,” said Sergio Fajardo on his Twitter profile.

In fact, the idea that the university official would be Fico Gutiérrez's teammate fell very well, surprisingly, in political sectors of the country. For example, the eldest son of former President Álvaro Uribe described as “excellent” the idea of Baptiste reaching the awnings of the Colombian right for the presidential elections.

It should be remembered that before Alejandro Gaviria burned in the consultation, Baptiste had said that he would vote for him. “When we are thinking about decisions that are urgent, that have to affect our way of life, but that cannot be irresponsible, we talk about reviving, regenerating and recovering our country's ecological capacity and biodiversity, but with restraint. For sustainability policy, I invite you to vote for Alejandro Gaviria,” said fellow biologist Brigitte Baptiste.

In August 2021, the former director of the Humboldt Institute, who sounded at the time as vice-president of the Gaviria political project, said she would love to see the former Minister of Health leading the country since the presidency, detailing that since the middle of the previous year, when the pre-candidacy was not yet known, they had been working in company of other rectors of the country with the aim of making universities spaces more “incident in decision-making”.

For now, of the candidates elected in last Sunday's internal consultations, only Sergio Fajardo has announced who will be his vice-presidential formula. Federico Gutiérrez and Gustavo Petro are expected to do so between this Friday and March 25, the deadline set by the National Civil Registry Office.
