“Women are abandoning patriarchy”: Arturo Zaldivar

“The structure of Mexico is changing,” said the Supreme Court President.

Arturo Zaldivar, president of the Supreme Court of the State (SCJN), assured that “patriarchy is about to fall, and women are abandoning it,” and “there is no doubt”.

At the monthly meeting, the presiding minister of the country's highest court questioned the subject.

“It's a reality, the structure is changing, and Mexico is no longer the same. More and more female magistrate judges, judges, more women move at work, there are more women in school. In every way, women play a very important role.” Zaldivar said.

In addition, the minister emphasized the need for men to take responsibility and change their mindset in order to contribute to women's security.

In this regard, he points out that “rape, abuse and, above all, murder must be fought with all their energy.” Because if “our girls and women continue to be killed,” they cannot move to a country with harmony, democracy, development and peace.

On March 8, thousands of women were demonstrated in various cities across the country, and the Mexico City march was the largest event with 75,000 people, most of whom were women.

In the capital, numerous public and private buildings were protected by metal fences, but the headquarters of SCJN, located in Zocalo, a square with the National Palace, the residence of President Andres Manuel López Obrado, was not protected.

Women in the feminist movement seem to know that the National Supreme Court is an ally in the feminist struggle. So, being a Constitutional Court, it seems that we must leave the building without protection so that there is a correct demonstration for them,” said the minister.

In addition, he made it clear that there is no damage to the building beyond a small pint

On March 8, although activists started demonstrations outside the constituency and wrote “Feminicida Mexico” on a billboard placed by the government to protect the National Palace, López Obrador organized an event surrounded by ruling women, highlighting the political development of the government on issues such as the existence of government government.

At his meeting, Arturo Zaldívar questioned whether he was under pressure after it was announced that bLaura Moran and Alejandra Cuevas' Amparos were promoted, as he revealed about the case in the ABC nursery school. Alejandro Gertz Manero, whose prosecutor's chief was promoted to General of the Republic (FGR), killed by his brother Federico missing blamed.

Jaldivarrello de Larea was convinced that the Supreme Constitutional Court was “taken over” by the federal government during the administration of former President Felipe Calderon (2006-2012).

Zaldívar recalled about the fire at the ABC nursery school that occurred in 2009 in Hermosillo Sonora. “It's not that they came to visit, they took the court, and I can prove how there were ministers who read the memorandum that authorized them as if it were their plea at the General Assembly.

However, he denied that in the case of Morán y Cuevas, Gertz Manero himself went to SCJN as an individual, that he was receiving orders directly from the administration of President bAndres Manuel Lopez Obrado.

“No, pressure not to touch the government of Felipe Calderón with rose petals when we were three years old from a minority, not to release a French citizen who caused a crime and violated all due process and all her human rights. So, while Calderon was president, it was impossibleto make a real decision on this issue,” he said.

In the case of Laura Moran and Alejandra Cuevas, Arturo Zaldivar revealed bthat next Monday, the draft of a new resolution on Amparos promoted by the two women will finally be discussed.

He added that SCJN did not speak about the release of Alejandra Cuevas in the session last Monday because the project did not consider it.He argued that in the case of the Supreme Court, it is necessary to make an informed decision through extensive debate.
