They were given talks, and also an instructive to read. The juries, the eight incumbents and 16 alternates, chosen for the trial against Marcelo Macarrón for the crime of his wife, Nora Dalmasso, knew very well that they should not talk about the case with anyone, not even with each other until the time came for deliberation. They were also aware that they could not contact the parties or witnesses. The case came to court 15 years after the resounding femicide and the details are taken care of to the utmost. But... One of the surrogates broke the established guidelines and was removed from the case.
One of the members of the popular jury substitute for the trial that follows Macarrón for the femicide of his wife, committed 15 years ago in the city of Río Cuarto in Cordoba, was removed because he was seen when he made contact with the son of the victim and the accused, Facundo Macarrón. It happened during an interim quarter of the hearing that took place yesterday when the diplomat testified.
Judicial sources told Infobae that the section is one of the last to enter by lot and that it had little chance of replacing any of the headlines. This is Luis Moressi, 35 years old and who is about to receive a Psychologist: he only lacked the thesis. “The good thing is that he acknowledged his mistake, apologized and that the transparency of the process was not affected,” said the sources consulted on the subject.
It all started during the fourth intermission in yesterday's hearing in which Macarrón son declared. The substitute jury in question went out to smoke a cigarette and crossed paths with Facundo. “There was no way a jury could have contact. He approached him to tell him that they have a common acquaintance, that he had not seen Facundo for a long time and that he sent him a loving greeting and strength,” detailed the sources consulted.
It was staff of the Jurors Office who saw the wrong actions of the alternate and gave notice to the technical court and the parties, the defense of Macarrón, led by Marcelo Brito, and the prosecutor of the trial, Julio Rivero. “Everyone agreed to set it aside so as not to call into question the impartiality of the jury,” they expanded.
And they added that the evicted student “apologized and accepted the decision to have him removed from trial for the sake of the trial and the jury.” This happened prior to the opening of the hearing on Thursday: Moressi was investigated by Brito and Prosecutor Rivero and, after admitting what the parties observed, he was separated from the group of alternates who also attend the oral and public debate in the Criminal and Correctional Chamber of First Nomination of Rio Cuarto.
This Thursday, the fourth and final day of this week's trial, police officers Santiago Gatica and Sergio Liendo declared that, along with other agents, they were the first to enter the victim's home when they notified by telephone about the discovery of the body on November 26, 2006.
