The former president, Vicente Fox Quesada, expressed his discontent through his social networks after the current president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, accused his “adversaries” of spreading a smear campaign on the Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA).
At the morning conference on March 17, the president reported that he will orient himself on how to get to the new facilities of the airport complex, this so that there is no manipulation of information, and in this regard, he pointed out his opponents as guilty of wanting to “muddy” the planning and construction of AIFA by saying mocking way that “takes about a week” to be able to get to the property.
Faced with this, the former panista responded, through his Twitter account, that López Obrador “always seeks to put the blame” on other people for his actions. In addition to writing disqualifiers to both the Santa Lucia airport and the current president, he also expressed disagreement with the role that the army plays in the megaproject.

On previous occasions, Vicente Fox has already expressed his disagreement with the project, which is one of the four insignia of the AMLO government. He compared it to a winery in May 2021 when Texcoco's New Mexico City Airport (NAIM) won the RTF (Rethinking The Future) Award for Architecture, Construction and Design.
Then, in September of last year, he criticized the current administration for “not speaking the truth” of the construction of AIFA, because according to him, it was impossible for the new terminal and the International Airport of Mexico City (AICM) to operate simultaneously.

In November of the same year, also via Twitter, Fox invited his followers to sign a virtual petition against AMLO and AIFA. This was done in collaboration with the Spanish platform CitizenGO, which serves to address requests to local, national and international authorities in the political or economic spheres.
This digital document assured that it was something very serious that AMLO allegedly covered acts of military corruption in exchange for political loyalty, thus lacking democracy and posing a risk to the country's security and tranquility.
In this regard, it requests that the current president, like the Secretary of National Defense, Luis Cresencio Sandoval, clarify complaints made against the Felipe Ángeles airport complex following the investigation carried out by the Latinus digital media, which presumed the revision of 966 contracts for the construction of the terminal air in which acts of corruption were reflected.

Despite criticism by the former president and other public figures of this mega-project of the so-called Fourth Transformation, the former Military Air Base No. 1, has already opened its doors to the public. A few days ago, the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) organized a bike ride inside the facilities so that visitors could get to know the remodeled site.
In addition, this March 21, 2022 at 11:00am, the opening ceremony of the new Santa Lucia airport will take place, which will be broadcast live on the official YouTube channel of the Government of Mexico and President López Obrador, as well as on the social networks of the agencies.
