Claudia López, Mayor of Bogotá, gave an overview of how the work was going during a visit to the courtyard workshop of the first subway line in the town of Bosa, and repeated in a clear warning to Gustavo Petro that the work cannot be stopped and will continue.
According to the President, work progress increased by 16% and workshop floor preparation by 25%. By 2027, the workshop yard and overpass will be fully built, and the first line of the Bogotá metro will be in service by 2028.
Precisely in order to make the adaptation of the soil go faster, a concrete plant was installed in the yard of the workshop.
In addition, López said, “We will fulfill and respect the contract that we have signed. In July of this year we will receive a check from President Duque, a real appointment, an agreement between the State and the Mayor's Office to finance the second line that goes to Suva and Engativa, which will allow us to start the recruitment process next year.”
The President explained that research on the structuring of the project for the second line of the subway is underway, which has already been defined as 16 km from Calle 72 to Fontanar del Rio in Suva.
The mayor said it will be announced what the Metro car will be like this year.
Claudia later stated that each government in Bogotá must create its own to comply with the provisions of the Territorial Planning Plan. In the next 20 years, Bogotá should have a total of 5 subway lines and 2 regional trains, one of which is Regiotram in the West. It is already under construction and has 7 overhead cables.
Petro was convinced that if he was elected president of Bogotá, he would rethink the entire course of the line.1 of the subway, thus stopping work such as the purchase and demolition of buildings already underway on the elevated route. Attempts to reactivate the project for underground paths.
