In February 2021, a scandal broke out inside the Cali Prosecutor's Office, which left several of the officials splattered. According to the investigations, prosecutors Ana Victoria Nieto and Iván Aguirre would be related to drug trafficker Jair Sánchez Hernández, alias 'Fine Mueble'. This complaint was enough for them to be charged in concert to commit crimes, threats to witnesses, false testimony as determiners, procedural fraud, prevarication by omission and self-bribery.
For a year, although the accusations of Nieto and Aguirre were related, separate proceedings were conducted, however, on March 16, Caracol Radio announced that the Prosecutor's Office seeks to unify the processes of both to indict them and bring them to trial in the case of 'narco-prosecutors' at the same time.
As a result of the foregoing, the hearings were suspended and on 25 March the prosecution will request the connection of the proceedings and will subsequently formally charge the former officials for six crimes and for allegedly belonging to a judicial network that would be in the service of the mafias.
Let us remember that everything happened when Hernández returned to the country after serving his sentence in the United States, after being extradited by order of the Supreme Court of Justice and upon returning to Colombia he was released, since there was no open investigation against him.
On August 29, 2019, units of the CTI of the Prosecutor's Office arrived at the office of Iván Aguirre, coordinator of the specialized unit of the Prosecutor's Office of the capital of the Valle, to carry out an inspection seeking evidence on an alleged case of corruption that would involve members of the Gaula and senior commanders of the Prosecutor's Office at the level national.
On February 8, Caracol Radio released the transcript of an interrogation that the Prosecutor's Office gave to one of the trusted men of 'Mueble Fino', a key witness in the case, as he was one of the liaisons with the prosecutors investigated. The subject confessed to the Prosecutor's Office that false testimonies were manufactured to involve third parties in criminal proceedings, that in one of his arrests he escaped in the complicity of prosecution officials and that his life is in danger.
The statements named prosecutors Iván Aguirre, 20 specialized prosecutor; Ana Victoria Nieto, prosecutor 19 of the specialized unit, and Jorge Iván Ríos García, prosecutor 47 section as those involved in the case of corruption and support to the capo.
“Doctor, the attack on Dr. Ana Victoria Salazar is totally false, that was never planned and no member of the organization ever planned an attack on Dr. Silvana, that was what Dr. Iván Aguirre and Dr. Ana Victoria, who were collaborating with me on the principle of opportunity (...) if I didn't say they were going to attempt they did not grant me the principle of opportunity,” said the witness, where he confesses that he lied in the proceeding against prosecutor Silvana Uribe, who was investigated for allegedly giving information to attempt prosecutor Nieto.
The witness, who was captured on January 13, 2020, also confessed that due to the complicity of officials he escaped from the Police Station where he was detained and was recaptured two days later. Despite the fact that it is an investigation that puts corruption within the judicial branch on alert and has had some problems with the victims of the case, those involved denounce that there are many obstacles to progress.
