Stephen Curry could participate in the playoffs due to a sprain (media)

Stephen Curry, the star of the Golden State Warriors, is suffering from a sprained left foot that could leave him at least until the start of the NBA playoffs in mid-April, US media reported Thursday.

The 34-year-old goalie was injured in Wednesday's game against the Boston Celtics in the second quarter.

Curry was hit hard by Marcus Smart as the two fought for a separate ball, in an action that Warriors coach Steve Kerr later recriminated the Celtics player.

The Warriors, who lost the 110-88 game, reported Wednesday that Curry was suffering from pain in his left foot and would be subject to an MRI.

That “the initial assessment of Steph Curry's sprained ligament on his left foot offers optimism that he will be able to return for the start of the playoffs in mid-April,” explained ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski.

“There is no structural damage, and Curry would have avoided serious injuries,” team sources told ESPN. However, “(Curry) is expected to visit specialists soon for further evaluation.”

Curry's loss, which averages 25.5 points per game, is a serious blow to the Warriors.

Just this week, the team celebrated meeting for the first time since 2019 Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, their stellar trio that led them to three NBA champion rings.

Thompson returned to the slopes in January after two and a half years of injury and Green, who was absent for two months due to injury, reappeared Monday in the victory over the Washington Wizards.
