Spanish artists visit the Cervantes Institute in Germany

Frankfurt (Germany), March 17 Several Spanish writers will take a tour of the Cervantes Institute in Germany when Spain participates as an honorary guest at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2022. This Thursday, Elvira Marco, curator of the project, presented a preview of the literary program at the Cervantes Institute in Frankfurt. Although the program is mostly narrative, it also highlights its diversity in terms of genres, since there are also works of non-fiction, poetry or graphic novels. Marco highlighted “the efforts that Spain has made since 2019 to promote the translation of books into German and to connect authors with Spanish and German agents and publishers.” The first event will take place today at Bibliotek am Luisenbad in Berlin, and Núria Tamarit, the 1st edition of the Valencia Graphic Novel Award, will present her work “Two Coins”, translated into seven languages, including German, under the title “Toubab”. After publishing the newly translated novel “Easy Reading” (“Leichte Sprache” by Lit.Cologne), Christina Morales visits the Cervantes Institute in Bremen (March 19), Munich (March 22) and Berlin (March 23). On April 1, on the occasion of Children's Book Day, the Cervantes Institute in Berlin will receive the 2015 Galician writer Ledisia Costas, the National Prize for Children and Youth Literature, and the humorist Hemato Critic. In addition, at the Cervantes Institute in Berlin, author Antonio Muñoz Molina is invited to discuss with Susanne Zepp (April 25), president of the German Hispanic Association. Two days later, Cervantes in Berlin pays tribute to Almudena Grande. Spain has also presented a preview of its cultural program at the headquarters of the Cervantes Institute in Frankfurt as an honorary guest of the city's book fair, which includes dance shows, theatrical performances, exhibitions, film cycles and music events in Frankfurt and other German villages. For example, the Wallraf-Richartz Museum in Cologne exhibits “Under the Skin”. Until April 24, the moving naturalism of the Spanish Baroque style will also be presented at Documenta 15 in Kassel from June 18 to September 25. asian/cams
